A compelling legal thriller, full of twists and complicated guilt. The story was gripping and I was glued to the page. However, I wish, like other readers, Kim said more about the danger of so-called autism “treatments,” like drinking bleach. These “treatments” are real and kill autistic people regularly and more explicit condemnation could have been educating and important. Couple this book with some research and you have an important and engaging piece of writing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #netgalley

I loved this one!! Right until the last two chapters. I adore a locker room mystery and this one delivered! High stakes, alternating storylines, real world issues. But the end fell flat, just a bit too tidy. Still, it helped the hours pass at work, so it’s a pick for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #netgalley

I loved this book (and the whole series!) when I was a girl. I was surprised on re-reading it the difficult issues this book touches on: the disappearance of a Native culture/white assimilation, sexual assault and arranged marriages, and death of a parent. It strengthened my heart to see an author introduce these topics to kids in a natural, non-preachy way. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you haven’t read this book, you need to. DiAngelo lays out why white people react the way they do when confronted with racist behavior, why it’s an issue, and how to do better. This informations is vitally important. I took off a star, simply because the writing is pretty academic and can be difficult to understand in places. Take notes.

I’m not sure how I feel about this one. It’s really short on plot and heavy on angst. But the displacement and loneliness that come from going to college for the first time - I get that. I just wish the ending was perhaps a little less bleak :/ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
