A Marker of Dreams and Destiny was a solid book that I at first couldn't get into and felt that it was too slow even with how fast the main characters get together. The ending for me is what bumped it from a 3 to a 3.5.

The true love twist was something I was not expecting, but on a reread would most likely be very evident.

The premise of the book was good, but I felt that there could have been better execution of the book.

Going into Little Women as a lover of the 2019 Greta Gerwig version of the movie I was worried about the book. I was scared that it wouldn't live up to my expectations, but after reading, it only grew my love for the movie.  Being able to see these characters and scenes come to life was amazing. Little Women so easily and truly captures growing up women and the misogyny surrounding the times. Meg was the poster child for the eldest daughter.

Marmee even says so. Meg is an extension of her mother carrying the burden of the family until she has a family of her own and carries their burden instead.

Jo is an amazing character who is steadfast in her opinion to never marry. Beth is amazing, being able to be content with her simple life and doing day-to-day tasks.

Her death hits harder to me than any of the other conflicts of the book. She was the best of them.

Amy though has a special place in my heart. Her ability to change and grow as much as she does is one of my favorite parts of the book.

The way that she goes from an impulsive child into a mature woman is crazy, especially juxtaposed to Jo who grows older, but ultimately stays the same.

Laurie was an interesting one. He grows but also doesn't. You understand his change from a boy to a man, but you can't explain exactly when he starts to change.

Jos rejection is when you notice the change, but it's not when it happens.

This is a book that anyone who grew up as a daughter or sister can understand.

It's Lonely at the Centre of the Earth was a very well-done graphic novel. I loved the different art styles throughout while staying cohesive. I think it portrayed mental illness and existentialism well with the combination of narration and what was happening in the drawings. This made me realize that graphic novels are a good vehicle for biographies and memoirs because it's even more authentic of an art form. It's relatable, but not in a manufactured way, and it feels really genuine.

Ruthless Vows was so good. At first, I thought it would be boring and slow-paced because I was unsure where it would go. After reading though, it was interesting and fast-paced. I loved the parallels to the first book which is what kept me interested, The one gripe I had is that in the duology as a whole, we get to see very little of the couple together, and most of it is them trying to find their way to each other. 

Looking back I would rate this book lower on a reread. I feel that together they could have been a single book with some of it cut out, but I still enjoyed it.
