It's possible my opinion of this series will increase with time. I was very excited to read this book. It was advertised to me as "The Night Circus in Russia." Seeing as how "The Night Circus" is my favorite book of all time, I was excited. However, that didn't turn out to be completely accurate to what the book was. I can see the ways in which the two are similar but honestly it didn't have the grace and beauty that Night Circus did. If the book had just been Vika and Yuliana I probably would have adored it. But the men in this book... to put it lightly, they bored me. I did not care about Nikolia or Pasha and spent most of their chapters wishing we were talking about someone else. I felt, as I find myself frequently feeling, that the romance between the two leads didn't have much... depth to it. As I said, it's possible that given time I will realize that I liked this much better than I do now. But for now it's just sort of "meh."
