I can totally see the appeal of this book and why Hilderbrand has a lot of fans. But it's simply not for me. It's not the kind of book that I would normally have picked up but I think if you are looking for a relaxing summer read then you can't do much better. Totally a beach read.

This book surprised me, which isn't something I can say about a lot of books. I wasn't sure at any point where the book was going or what was going to happen. This is a rare find for me. I read a lot so I have become (frustratingly) good at guessing at the end of books. But this one? Not so much. I honestly wasn't expecting much. Another YA SciFi Romance, same as so many others. But that's not what I got. Instead I got a love story that made sense over the course of the book. It wasn't insta-love but the characters grew and as a result of their growth came to be together. The story structure was solid and the events surprising. Even the very last few pages of the book caught me off guard. Overall, I think this book has a lot going for it. I'm excited to pick up the rest of the series and see what it has to offer.
