TW: Animal Death, Racism, Pregnancy Loss (kind of??)

WOW! This book left me absolutely breathless, I'm unsure how to even process all of the emotions.  There were moments where I was gasping out loud as I read. Moments when I recoiled at the horror. Moments when I had to set the book aside and Think for awhile. This book truly has so much to say and it says it with such poetic horror that it is difficult to look away. 

This book is incredibly good. It’s so rare to read a good stand alone YA Fantasy book. Good world building, complex characters and a solid plot if at times somewhat predictable. Overall this is such a well constructed book. I can think of nothing I disliked about it other than that it’s over. 

(C/p from my review on TheStoryGraph) so Butcher does a truly great job in this book, the world is really up his alley. But I.... do not like Peter Parker. I thought maybe Butcher could change that for me, maybe give me a reason to love him but sadly even Butcher cannot Dave the character for me. He’s just not that interesting and the minor characters are equally uninteresting. Not because Butcher didn’t try but just because of the source material he has to work within.

TW: rape, pandemic

This is one I'm not going rate mostly because it was a lot harder for me to read than I expect it to be. It is not that the stories are not good, they are very good. They are very raw and real and under different circumstances I might have loved them. But the tone was really hard for me to process right now. I don't dislike it but because of how messed up it made me, I don't feel comfortable giving it a rating.

I liked this book a lot. It felt like real kids, like the author really kids the way kids talk and interact with the world around them. The characters are fully realized and the plot is interesting and detailed. It’s a really amazing middle grade book.

Exploring themes running from mythology to small town life in Kansas, this book of poetry is truly one of the best I've ever read. It's so full of the poet, so full of meaning and truth inside it. A MUST read

TW: period typical racism, period typical misogyny, implied threats of assault

This was a really thoughtfully written and researched book. I do wish it was a little longer because there are a number of threads that I thought could have been wrapped up better. Overall, I just found incredibly interesting and full of heart.
