Not all poetry is built the same and not all poetry carries over an audiobook format... I'm not sure what applies to this particular work, but it didn't quite work for me. I would be curious to read something else by this author though and see how it hits.

An utterly beautiful and perfect audiobook of poetry. Lost a little bit of emphasis I think with the formatting. But it was well worth the time it took to read and I will be reading this again as a physical book so I can truly soak in the poetry of it and take in the emotion.

I would give this a 5 star if it didn't have so much cross over with Douglass' first work. However, it was very excellent and informative and I would recommend anyone unfamiliar with his work read this book. Just so honest, raw, and important.

There were very rare moments of "insight" in this book... I think the issue is this particular translation. It reads as very "Instagram poetry." It wasn't a complete nothing-sauce, but it was close and just notable for having "done it first." I cannot imagine this work has endured for so long based on what this translation gives to the reader. I will be in search of a better translation to read sometime in the future.

Just a fun and solid book full of good art and fun little info pieces beside them. Nothing new for someone as into Labyrinth as I am... but very fun to look through!

I think I would rate this lower if I hadn't read this as an audiobook. The narrator's accent was so beautiful and engaging. That with the writing style made it so I could listen and get lost and come up a couple hours later without realizing that much time had passed. The story itself didn't grip me and I truly didn't care for the characters very much. But everything was passable and then the narration and writing style made it so I just blitzed through and found it an agreeable book all around.

I do think the characters have a lot of room for others to enjoy them more then I did and I can think of several people in my life that the plot would be very gripping for. So I definitely recommend if anyone is into a historical piece focused on plague.

I just love all the characters in this so much. Thoughtful, relaxing and reflective read with characters that I will always want more of and a plot that is interesting. I don't know that I like this more then the Anime.... the voice acting and everything brings such life to the story... but I would give that show a 6 star if I could, so this is solidly a five!

I spent a lot of this book feeling around in the dark wondering what was going on... the ending made it all worth the read and I 100% believe I will get more out of this on a reread someday. Very engaging, odd, and worthwhile.

I found this beautiful and insightful. I will want to revisit it sometime.
