I've spent 2 days after finishing this book digesting what I read and considering what to even say about it. I just... I still don't know what to say. This was my first experience of reading Schwab and I'm obsessed. I don't quite know what it was about the characters. But they felt so real without being annoying and so vibrant without being cliche. I think Schwab has a clear handle on how to write dialogue that is grounded but interesting and she just knows how to give an interesting narrative structure. Every chapter made me itch to know what was going to happen in the next one. It wasn't really something that kept me sitting on the edge of my seat though so much as just wanting to continue on the journey with everyone.
I honestly fell in love with Addie LaRue, and more importantly with Schwab. My fiance has recommended a series of theirs that has been on our shelf for some time now... and I cannot wait to wrap up my currently reading so I can dive into them!

The VanderMeer's do a wonderful job at not just putting together some intriguing and great short stories. They also do a wonderful job at telling a story of Science Fiction and it's ability to affect and permeate many different cultures and lives. Unlike most collections they do not put just white men's stories front and center. Rather, they acknowledge the great and known authors while also offering up various stories from authors previously left unacknowledged or under-acknowledged in prior compilations.

I’ve been trying to decide what to say about this book the last couple days. I don’t know. It was excellent and slow and pulled me into it so well. A definite 5 star for me, and I just think you should read it if the title and synopsis sounds intriguing to you.
While I feel like the plot is rather basic and predictable, everything else about this book makes an impact. I feel like I could easily have met all the characters in real life. If I hadn't read this book at work during breaks I know I would have cried. Instead, I was left with a lot to think about and just consider in the context of both this book and the things that COVID-19/2020 brought to light to so many Americans.
Black Lives matter, they have always mattered. This book is a beautiful love letter this basic fact and that the current and future generations need everyone to do better.

Trevor Noah knows how to tell a story, and how to tell right. Each chapter was like it's own short story with a clear message, a good chuckle elicited at least in one spot, and a glimpse into history and another place's culture and reality. Overall the book was a cohesive and well chosen insight into Trevor's childhood through young adulthood. This is everything I could hope a celebrity-written book could be. Clever, insightful, meaningful and raw.

This book was absolutely amazing. It was clever, thoughtful, poetic, and I really liked several of the characters. The ending wasn't what I wanted, but considering I couldn't really see how it could end I think Miller did a good job of wrapping things up. It might critically be a 4/4.5 star. But my enjoyment of this read (especially with the audio book's killer narrator) was a solid 5 stars.
Would highly recommend it to anyone who likes more poetic and introspective character studies. I would also recommend it if you simply like mythology. However, I think you don't really need an understanding of mythos to get and enjoy the plot and characters.

This was just solidly delightful. Want a bit of humor? Thrill? A fun main character? A unique POV? Easy to get sci-fi? It is here! A super well-done novella-length work. I am engaged and ready to read the next!

This book was an absolute pleasure to read. I cannot express enough just how fun, thoughtful, and believable the writing was. I usually have a hard time getting into soft magic systems... but Adeyemi handled the magic system with such care. You couldn't help but respect and be enamored by it. Already have book 2 on its way! I do believe this is a trilogy, and I am happy that book 3 is the only one I will have to wait for the release of.
