challenging dark emotional informative slow-paced

It is so important to read the accounts of real people in real times. The fact that this firsthand account of a life from slavery to freedom was retained is so important. A lot to process, but important to know and face the horrors of slavery.

Without stories like hers, America wouldn't be nearly as much the "land of the free" as we claim it to be. The voice of a woman who lived, breathed, and fought alongside the likes of Frederick Douglass is powerful and important to retain and keep telling.
