Just not interested to see where this goes, the art is sort of boring to me

Found it really hard to follow the narrator and it kinda sounded like he was making fun of their accents. Idk. 

I cannot enjoy how the narration is unmoored in time and is clearly leading to a character being a trans women... And yet it insists on calling the character what they were assigned at birth. I would understand doing so if the narration was a first person or linearly moored narrative... But since it isn't it just feels disrespectful. 

Looking up the author I had thought perhaps they were trans and so I could trust that the narrative would correct and maybe critic itself... But finding the author is the mother of a trans person who wrote the book while discovering her daughter is trans... I feel like perhaps this book is packed with intense feeling and emotion, but not necessarily the kind of focus and sensitivity I would hope for. I get it's hard for parents to deal with a fundamental shift in how they view their children... But I care more for the feelings of trans people then those around them. So despite this book being emotive and perhaps well written... I don't think it is a book for me. 

While I think this book could be fun and entertaining if it was a physical book... I cannot listen to one more narration by the author of her side notes, inserted "hahaha" or singing. Could be funny in a scrapbookish type formate. But knowing she sat in a insulated studio and recorded herself reading all this... It's too cringe for me. Would give it a solid 3 if I could. But there is too much else to read to keep on. 🫡

I'm just finding this one boring. I find the idea intriguing, but every paragraph is so dense that a page feels like 3... And it's just not that intriguing. 

Kinda dumb coffee table shit. 

I was reading this as an audiobook. There was a new character introduced with an accent. I gave it some time but I just absolutely cannot stand how their voice is being read. Might end up picking this up again as a physical book... But maybe not. There is so much to read and I wasn't super invested in any of the relationships in this series and the plot is sorta basic even if the lore is cool. 

I had a hard time with this book because I found the world and politics intriguing. But there was so much to wade through that nothing about the book ever really grabbed me and made me focus. The characters overall were all sorta uninteresting to me. Especially the main character. The main character experiences a death of a person very close to her in the beginning and it felt like the only humanizing thing about her. The rest of the book however things are happening and they are crazy and she just sorta goes along with it with little to no reaction. It's just sort of... Boring. Calling it quits more then halfway into the books feels really difficult for me. But when the other half is still 400 pages with this main character... I just can't. I have to call it quits.
