I thought this was a unique idea and story line. I would be curious to see more of this world! The magic system and world building was something I haven't read before.

THIS SERIES MAKES ME HAPPY.

Another win for Deadlights Cove. I loved Lysander and Maisie!!! The dash of forbidden romance worked so well between these too. I felt the connection from the get-go and those fiery kisses set me ablaze. There were great character arc building moments and I loved seeing Lysander and Maisie both stand up for themselves and for the right to choose what they wanted to do with their lives. It was swoony, the perfect level of heated, and the rush of action at the end was the perfect capstone.

I love this entire town and every single character. There’s humor and heart and I laughed many times as I devoured each page of this romance. As someone who usually says I’m not a paranormal fan, this is the exception and I need everyone who feels the same to try this series too!! You won’t regret it!!!

Overall audience notes:
- Paranormal Rom-Com
- Language: strong
- Romance: 2 open door
- Violence: moderate
- Trigger/Content Warnings: near death experiences, new drowning

A BIT CHAOTIC.

I will admit that this one was easier to get through than book eight. But the same glaring issues continually popping up just holds me back from really connecting with the story (and I have put myself in for the long haul of finishing this series to read all of Sanderson’s books).

The romantic sub plot is a dumpster fire I can’t look away from. Rand is not all that and these women need to find someone more consistent in their lives. I don’t even know what to do with it all other than just jump on the train to see what wild thing happens next.

I wish there was a better balance between the POV’s. Staying in one story line for so long gets me in the groove and then changing to someone else’s kind of throws me off. Wash and repeat the entire book. I’m still trying to figure out why these books were so popular.

Overall audience notes:
- Fantasy
- Language: a little
- Romance: closed door
- Violence: high
- Trigger/Content Warnings: hallucinations, battle themes, loss of life, weapons and magical altercations

GRAHAM.

I am a PUDDLE after sweet Graham took over my heart. I binged this book because I was wrapped up in the undeniable chemistry between Graham and Claire and I needed to get to every soft and fiery moment between them. The banter was stellar and I loved them. I loved them so much.

Friends with benefits is a tough sale for me, But I will say I liked the way Ashley went about it. I didn’t feel like the physical aspects were pushed just to add heat. There were true relationship building moments that got me on board with the dynamic and I JUST ADORED THEM. I loved seeing Graham open up to his vulnerable side and seeing Claire getting the things she deserved and working through what happened in her past.

I loved the medical jargon and adventure aspects. I liked the subtle side characters and their roles. And even getting to see Mia and Noah!! This book was a delight. I love the way Allison Ashley weaves a romance and two books in and I’m an official fan girl. She also writes fantastic heat (a little reminiscent of Sarah Adams) where the heat is building and fades out. My favorite level of steam.

Read it y’all!

Overall audience notes:
- Contemporary Romance
- Language: light frequency but strong
- Romance: multiple vague fade to black
- Violence: moderate
- Trigger/Content Warnings: loss of a father, airplane crash (recounted), trauma, medical discussions, rock climbing accident
medium-paced

I really enjoyed this one. It did kind of veer of and felt a little long. BUT I thought the overall information given was super important and connected a lot of pieces from Mistborn, Mistborn Era 2 and more. I just love Kelsier and his complicated character self.

SOLID MIDDLE GRADE.

BLOG || INSTAGRAM

I know this isn’t my usual fantasy grade level, but I was sold on the idea and I think it is great for this age group. Keeping that in mind as I read led to a good reading experience and I’m excited for book two.

Briana, our lovely FMC, was wonderful. I loved that she acted and responded appropriately for her age group, but that it also didn’t bring on any annoyance. She’s going through a lot of growth and processing very hard things. I also loved that she wasn’t immediately good at everything, I liked seeing her learn new things and how to handle her power.

Her found family group was full of the kindest souls. I loved seeing them all together and enjoyed the lighter dynamics they brought to the table. There’s great father-like figures and friends Briana’s age that she’s able to connect with.

I enjoyed the plot and getting some snippets of the antagonists point of view to see inside his mindset too. There’s plenty of action and moments that keep those pages turning.

Overall audience notes:
- Middle Grade Fantasy
- Language: none
- Romance: none
- Violence: low-moderate
- Trigger/Content Warnings: loss of family, small battle themes, weapons, physical and magical violence
