A SIMPLE CONCLUSION.
BLOG || INSTAGRAM
With how short this book was I am almost leaning towards it working better if it had been a duology. I enjoyed it, but just needed more.
I do like these characters and it’s a great TRUE young adult series and that’s always a big bonus. The romance is sweet and I wish they had some more page time together as they fought their way back to each other. I am intrigued by how some of the story lines felt a little open and if there’s some kind of spin off coming?
It’s a quick audio book (7 hours) and if you’ve been enjoying the series so far I think you’ll like this conclusion too. This wasn’t initially on my radar and I am happy that I picked them up! Another solid seafaring adventure read.
Overall audience notes:
- YA Fantasy
- Language: none
- Romance: kisses
- Violence: moderate
- Trigger/Content Warnings: loss of life, weapons violence, near death experiences

The second book in the sweater weather series was good! I flew through this and I am totally smitten with the sheriff, Lucas. He was my favorite part of the whole book. I loved that you could clearly see the turnaround he made and how he apologized and watched out for Jolie over and over again.
I liked Jolie, but I struggled with her need to come back home to be petty and mean to those who were petty and mean to her. I think a rise above situation would have come off better in the end.
The romance is good. It’s a suuuper slow burn and the pay off is sweet. I liked Brooke (though I still don’t get the point of the mentor/mentee plot??). All in all, a good read. Plenty of cozy autumn vibes and a few spooky dolls to boot.
Overall audience notes:
- Contemporary Romance
- Language: none
- Romance: kisses
- Violence: low
- Trigger/Content Warnings: alcoholism, loss of parents

I thought this was a duology?? And I found out it’s not and it showed. At over 500 pages there was no way it needed to be this long.
I LOVED book one and I am currently feeling a bit jaded at how this went. I don’t often feel like a book drags when I’m listening as an audiobook but that was the case here. Because of the results at the end of book one, I felt that this one had to rehash a looot of information to move things along.
And I wish the romance had been more at the forefront. It started off really well and then tapered off and I’m not even sure where things stand at this point. There were some good reveals towards the end, and I will read the third book.
Overall audience notes:
- YA Time Travel Fantasy
- Language: moderate – strong
- Romance: kisses
- Violence: moderate
- Trigger/Content Warnings: loss of life, weapons and physical violence, loss of loved ones

I HAVE NOT RECOVERED. How does Cassidy Clarke right these massive fantasy books that don’t feel long at all? I am in love with all of these characters and now I’m sad I have to wait for book four. READ THIS SERIES.
I love how heavily character driven this series is. I am deeply and emotionally attached to each and every one and I love how many POV’s we get. This book was the most romantic book of the bunch. I loved the increase focus on some of the couples and where there stories are taking them. While this book HURT it also had this softer quality that I’m absolutely sure is gearing up for some destruction in future books.
This is such a hidden gem of the indie fantasy world and I beg of you to give it a try. There’s MEDDLING GODS, politicking, battles, ROMANCE, magic and world building that is well crafted and not overwhelming. I love this series so much.
Overall audience notes:
- Fantasy Romance
- Language: some strong
- Romance: closed door
- Violence: high
- Trigger/Content Warnings: torture, whipping, loss of life, loss of loved ones, physical and weapons violence

I didn’t really have plans to pick this up and a friend’s raving review convinced me to give it a go. AND I LOVED IT. I’m so happy I read it!
THE EMOTIONS. I felt them all throughout. The flashback chapters hurt my heart and when a reveal happened that I wasn’t expecting I was almost in tears. The writing just brought out all of the feels.
The romantic banter was amazing. I was laughing and swooning Hollis and Millie. They really had this enigmatic chemistry and the road trip antics were well placed. I’m not usually a road trip fan, but I love the way this story worked in its favor. I do think the physicality of their relationship surpassed what I love seeing, that’s a me thing though.
It’s a wonderful audio book. A deeply heartfelt story and I was in love from all sides.
Overall audience notes:
- Contemporary Romance
- Language: some strong
- Romance: 3-4 open door
- Violence: low
- Trigger/Content Warnings: loss of a loved one

First, I didn’t like this interpretation of athletic training. Some aspects were correct and other discussions made me cranky.
Secondly, I wanted very much to like this, and did at first, and things slowly went downhill. There were some writing and commentary quirks with jokes that didn’t land. And the continual repetitive nature of Alec and Oakley’s thoughts made me want to skim to actually move the story along (and it’s not even 300 pages). And the balance of heaviness in it didn’t fit either???
I liked the brothers, and the resort setting, and it ended just fine. There wasn’t a whole lot going for me though otherwise. Oakley ran away from her problems instead of having a brief chat with Alec that would have solved all of the problems. And at that point I was through. I don’t think this is the author for me.
AND FINALLY. I can’t count it as a sports romance when not a single game is played. Yes, Alec is a FORMER NFL player, but besides some high school football, that’s all you’re going to see.

This was much shorter than I expected and it showed. While a cute and sweet story, I wish it would have been a regular novel length to really feel the connection between Eli and Court.
And a lot of it was filled with adults handling issues like high school drama. A bit he said/she said, not being forthright with feelings and such. Just not what I was hoping for. Eli bugged me the most as is CONTINUALLY put himself down and argued that he was a terrible football player. I get it, but also, where’s the character growth?
It’s dual POV and friends to lovers, and he falls first which were my favorites aspects. And if you are looking for something short, maybe this is for you?
I will continue my quest for sweet/closed door football romances that I would love to recommend. This one just didn’t click for me.

These books make me laugh and grin and I just love Emma’s voice every time. I love the world Emma Lion is creating for herself and how continually resilient and optimistic she is about what life has thrown her way.
There’s also this really sweet found family being created and I love that too. It’s so very different reading a historical fiction book as journal entries vs. how I usually read them. The journal entries are creative and you will be right there with Emma through the ups and downs.
And I might have spied the tiniest bit of romance brewing?? I know this series is planned to be very long and I am here for the haul. They’re quirky and light, filled with good messages too.

I sincerely needed this to go a certain and specific way and I’m very happy it did. This is a series where you have to lean in and enjoy the drama. I love that it’s dramatic and I don’t know quite what’s going to happen next.
I really enjoyed everyone (BUT DAPHNE) storylines and where they ended up. There were some crucial endings and reconnections, starting over and moving on and I liked how that wrapped up. Character arcs kept being pulled in different directions and I was very much glued to my headphones waiting to know how it would end.
An enjoyable series with a unique flair. McGee has the addictive quality about her books that pull you in and I was very much attached to these characters. I loved the pacing and how well the plots were woven. There wasn’t one (EXCEPT DAPHNE) POV chapter that I didn’t enjoy reading.
