SWEET, BUT
BLOG || INSTAGRAM
I enjoyed this one, it’s got a good instant connection vibe and I am smitten with Levi. I thought the flashback chapters were sweet and helped show case the beginning of their relationship before they found each other again.
But I did struggle with some of the plot aspects. And even as I’m writing this I’m realizing a few other things that were never fully explained. The forbidden romance wasn’t all the way there (especially with how easy everything worked out) and I was confused by Dahlia being so incredibly stubborn. The book needed a bit more length for some explanations.
I like Annah Conwell’s writing style and I love this whole cast. I love a big family who look out for each other. There’s good friendships, a good sister relationship and some sweet moments that bring the swoon.
Overall audience notes:
- Contemporary Romance
- Language: none
- Romance: kisses
- Violence: low
- Trigger/Content Warnings: very brief gun violence, grief depiction, mentions of loss of parents

Thank you to LibroFM for the gifted audiobook!
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE.

This book had me in a chokehold within the first few chapters. Oh my goodness, this was exquisitely executed from page one. I felt the intensity of this story and had to keep listening with a need to know that things worked out in the end.
The post Revolutionary War setting was enthralling. I rarely read books in this time period and loved seeing how the world worked then. I felt a spectrum of emotions from the heavy topics and waiting to see if any justice could be found. I loved the main character Martha and her family. Ephraim is a man that must be protected at all costs. I loved seeing their love story through flashbacks while seeing how their family had grown in the present.
There’s an exploration of many themes and at times incredibly hard to read. I thought the narrator did a beautiful job bringing this story to life. The legal drama, murder mystery, many births, small town gossip and the beauty of love all weave together for a story that I will be telling everyone to read.
Overall audience notes:
- Historical fiction mystery
- Language: light
- Romance: vague descriptions
- Violence: high
- Trigger/Content Warnings: rape is a major focus in the story (and is recounted and discussed throughout), multiple birth scenes (with difficult births presented too), murder, weapons violence, physical altercations, violent assault

NOT FOR ME.

I felt like trying a genre I don’t typically read and had high hopes. Unfortunately I clashed with the general plot of this book and it’s a total case of, it’s me not the book. So take this review as you will.
Most of this book revolves around seances, communing with spirits and and an exorcism vibe. Those are things that aren’t really my thing and thus, I felt disconnected from the book.
I thought the writing was great, it didn’t feel too long and I did enjoy the main characters. There were good moments and the subtle romance had some cute scenes too.
Overall audience notes:
- YA Horror
- Language: some strong
- Romance: kisses
- Violence: high
- Trigger/Content Warnings: mentions of prior suicide attempt, suicide ideation, mentions of potential self harm, being possessed

Five stars.
All the stars.
All the emotions too.
I loved this book. It was the kind of duology sequel you hope for. Dream about reading. After my total obsession with Divine Rivals the hype was real for this one. And hallelujah all the hype was deserved.
Just go into this book blind. The story unfolds with beautiful writing and a continuation of the storyline you won’t be able to look away from. I loved how the romance evolved, how the meddling gods affected the world and the stunning and raw conclusion.
It’s incredible. Worth the read x1000 over. I love the way Rebecca Ross writes and creates stories. They are always some of my favorite books each year.
Overall audience notes:
- NA Historical Fantasy Romance
- Language: a little
- Romance: closed door
- Violence: high
- Trigger/Content Warnings: war themes (bombing and loss of life), near death experiences, weapons violenc

THAT ENDING.

Every time I finish one of these books I am left with the best kind of cliffhangers. I love how the last 20% leaves me flabbergasted and begging to be handed the next book. The love triangle in this book had me feeling EVERYTHING. I was mad, I was smitten, I was being rolled around in circles trying to figure out how I felt and I love when a book can bring out all of that.
I enjoyed the continuation of the plot. It slows down a bit and there’s some added in flashback chapters that help round out and gear up for the last book. I am really into these audiobooks and I loved that this one had dual narration.
The first half had me a little flustered because I kept thinking that this entire book was just going to be two men arguing over a woman, luckily that slowly evolved to some great reveals and turns. I’m excited to see what happens next!
Overall audience notes:
- Fantasy Romance
- Language: some strong
- Romance: 1-2 open door
- Violence: high

This was very short and I did like the general storyline and how the plot worked out. The characters were endearing and I liked both of them (dual POV). I just think it was too lusty for me and that took me out of the story. But if you want the spice and need something fast, I would say go for it.

GOOD CONCLUSION.

I’ve been meaning to finish this series up and I’m glad that I did! They are short quick burst fantasies with plenty of action and intrigue. I enjoyed the multiple POV the most. I love seeing all sorts of sides to a story and this was no different.
There’s a lot of good character growth (as expected and loved from Renee Dugan). I liked where everyone ended up and thought overall it wrapped up the story lines well. The fast pace makes the pages fly and there’s many good surprises and reveals. Some totally blindsided me and I am always here for those moments.
It’s a journey, and a great one.

I AM INTRIGUED.

I have never read a Mark Lawrence book (though I’ve always been meaning to do so) and I felt like this was a great introduction and a series I definitely want to continue with. I love books about books and this was very interesting. While a lot of the world building and magic system clicked for, I do feel like I was missing those last few pieces (and maybe that was me listening on audio issue) to fully grasp what was happening. There was SO MUCH time warping situations and I am notoriously baffled by those.
I did love the characters. It’s dual POV between Livira and Evar. I was smitten with these two. There’s a slow and subtle romance between them that crosses time and who doesn’t love a star crossed union? And I really enjoyed them on their own too. I love seeing that growth and exploration of self over a book. I am very curious about how this connection will continue to play out and grow in the future books.
This was a great fantasy series starter and a hidden gem to me that I’m glad I took a chance on. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Officially my new favorite book by Amy Lea. What a gem.
I was iffy initially on Mel being a fashion/lifestyle influencer. But I really liked how this was approached and it wasn’t heavy handed. Nor did she act ridiculous about getting content and such. I loved watching Mel realize disconnecting from her phone was doing her soul a lot of good.
And Evan was hella swoony. I adored him. That grumpy fisherman has all of my attention. I loved the opposites attract and the slow burn that ignited between them. I was smitten with all of the little smiles and looks and cute things Evan would do to show he cared and how Melanie learned to being open to and reciprocating those feelings and intentions.
The third act could be a little anger inducing but the longer I sat on it the longer I felt it fit the story. It wasn’t an overblown miscommunication. It was an honest to goodness adjustment that needed some thought before big changes. And I liked that both Evan and Mel had the time to process those ideas.
There were major The Proposal and While You Were Sleeping vibes. I also think if you enjoyed The Simple Wild this would be a winner too. A great fish out of water, broken down inn, rediscovering yourself, spicy read.
Overall audience notes:
- Contemporary Romance
- Language: some strong
- Romance: 3-4 open door
- Violence: low
- Trigger/Content Warnings: recounting loss of loved ones, near drowning
