DEFINITELY NEED BOOK TWO.

This has been sitting on my TBR for a long while now and I am very grateful that the audiobook became available and saved it from the cemetery of my kindle folder.
I thought this concept was so much fun and I loved all of the sci-fi superheroes, anti-heroes and other groups throughout. It took some darker turns I wasn’t expecting and I thought the action scenes packed a lot of punch.
There’s a subtle romance too that had my full attention and I look forward to seeing the final development of that in book two. I liked Rosemary as the FMC and how she was naive about a lot of things, but caring and loyal to her loved ones. Even better, she took the time to work on her skills and learned many new things along the way.
The audiobook was great. I enjoyed the narrator. There was one side character who’s voice was a bit nasally to me, but that was a minor issue. I definitely recommend this format for reading WCBV.
Overall audience notes:
- YA Sci-Fi + Romance
- Language: none
- Romance: kisses
- Violence: mild
- Content Warnings: murder, gun violence

A GOOD CONCLUSION.

I have been waiting for Yates story and I found it really beautiful. It’s a soft love triangle with a lot of hard topics and loving humans who help each other move forward when the hard things hit.
The audiobook was great and I loved that format. I enjoyed the mystery of this plot and not quite knowing where it was going to lead. There’s just the right level of theatrics and drama that led to heated tension and memorable kissing scenes.
Seeing all of the old cast was a delight too. I have loved reading about all of these characters and I loved their inclusion into the plot. This was my first series my White and I would love to see what stories she writes next.
Overall audience notes:
- Historical Romance
- Language: none
- Romance: kisses
- Violence: moderate
- Content: murder, attempted murder, sexual abuse, child abuse, gun violence

WORKED FOR ME.

Fantasy standalones and I don’t always see eye to eye. I did go with the audiobook route and that was the click for me. I loved the audiobook and keeping it at the pace that I do helped me move through the story.
Yes, there’s a few plot quirks and I would have loved more of the relationship background BUT for a standalone this delivered. I love love love wild twists and plot moments I didn’t see coming. This had good reveals and I thought the unveiling of the story was executed well.
The romance was heated and swoony. I loved the connection between Liyen and the God of War. Perfectly timed tension and the build had my full attention. The lore was beautiful and I just can’t get enough of SLT’s writing style. It’s magnetic and the audiobook narrator brought everything to life.
Another gorgeous story that I loved reading.
Overall audience notes:
- Fantasy Romance
- Language: low
- Romance: fade to black
- Violence: moderate

HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO WAIT?

This was arguably my biggest release of 2024. I have been waiting YEARS to get my hands on this book and y’all. It delivered and MORE. AND MORE. I honestly don’t even know how to put all my thoughts into coherent sentences. I’ll keep it vague so if you happen to read this without having read Stormlight yet, you’ll be okay. BUT ALSO GO READ IT.
I loved how Sanderson handled every single character in this story. The arcs are MAGNIFICENT. They are empowering and gives you hope and faith in something greater. I am in love with every member of this cast and I loved the flashbacks we received for a certain character this time and how that journey brought them to where they are now.
There were a few moments I had surmised or theorized happening (that did happen!!) and even more I could not have seen coming. And even more so, things I wasn’t expecting but am so happy to see. I laughed and cried, raged at the skies and shouted STORMS a few hundred times. I hugged this book trying to hug these characters.
Every single moment of the 62 hours I spent with this audiobook (okay less because I was listening at a 2.85x speed) BUT ANYWAYS. The longest book I have ever read was one of the best books of my life.
I just can’t even believe we’re here. The end of the first arc. THE END OF AN ERA.
(I’m excited about Sanderson’s next books but I don’t know how we’re supposed to all wait 10 years for arc two).
Overall audience notes:
- Epic fantasy
- Language: low
- Romance: closed door
- Violence: high

ANOTHER CUTE READ.

These just make me smile. They have that true high school quality (and as an adult I can definitely get frustrated but it feels very true to the characters so it’s fine, just mentioning) and I love that I could actually hand this off to someone in the YA age group without an issue.
The romance is cute and has a little bit of a forbidden vibe to it. There’s some sweet and swoony lines and a whole lot of moments for connection and interaction. But I also really loved that the main theme centered more on found family and finding your people. Those who love and support you. And I am always in love with a supportive and caring family too.
The audiobook was great. I loved the narrator. It’s a fast and light read. Plenty of D&D content if that’s your thing and I’m happy with another book that made me smile.
Overall audience notes:
- YA Contemporary Romance
- Language: none
- Romance: kisses

LOVED THE LORE.
BLOG || INSTAGRAM
This was a good sophomore book to follow up Sinner’s Isle. It made me an official fan of Angela Montoya and I will continue to look forward to her new releases because I love the concepts she comes up with for each book. I loved the deep lore and historical fantasy vibes that A Cruel Thirst had. All the vampire content y’all. The time period was perfect and set a haunting atmosphere listening for what was going to go bump in the night.
The romance was a little too rushed for me though. I was hoping for a bit more development and connection between them. The banter was good and they really were sweet on each other at least.
I liked how the story wrapped up and think this is absolutely a solid standalone. I love finding fast paced stories like these. There’s complicated family dynamics, strong sibling relationships and plenty of action. The audiobook was great too and I loved the narrators!
Overall audience notes:
- YA Historical Fantasy Romance
- Language: low – mild
- Romance: one closed door
- Violence: moderate
- Content Warnings: loss of a loved one, murder
