 POINTS FOR THE BLINDSIDE.

I, your humble reader, have read over 1,000 fantasy books. AND NOT ONE has had this kind of twist. I am reeeeeeling from it y’all. I LOVE IT. I loved the chaos it caused and how wild the ending became and how I must have my hands on book two NOW.

There were a few issues with the world building and magic system that didn’t make sense. I was able to overlook these enough because of how much I enjoyed having a unique fantasy romance to read.

The romance is heated and tender and I enjoyed the way relationships were conveyed in this world. I liked all of the characters and found the pacing was steady. It flew by and is absolutely worth the download.

There’s nothing SPECIAL about this book but if you’re looking for a good novella to spend an afternoon with, I’d recommend it. I was a big fan of the newlywed game once upon a time and I thought the play on that show was showcased well here. There’s quirky contestants and a little bit of drama and it’s a fun listen with the full cast.

I liked the romance between Cleo and Javi. It’s unconventional and works well. The sparks flew and they were just so sweet on each other. As I am prone to do, the third act bugged me a bit, but it’s fine. I liked how the novella wrapped up and the audio production was fantastic.

- Contemporary Romance Novella
- Language: mild
- Romance: one closed door

I have been begging for some of these sequels to hold up and blessed be, REBEL WITCH did just that. I loved the audiobook narration and was smitten from the get-go between Rune and Gideon. This is why I love enemies to lovers. Hot dang these two BROUGHT IT. The sense of impending doom and I must betray you and everything in between.

The plot had some tiny things that made me quirk my head to the side but not enough for me to knock off any star power. I think this book did a great job on expounding where it needed to in order to build the world and magic system better while also bringing the storylines to a successful close. Things wrapped up where they should and I loved the little epilogue too.

Overall audience notes:
- NA Fantasy Romance

- Romance: 1 briefly vague open door
- Violence: moderate

OBSESSED IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT.

You know when you have those FAVORITE characters? The story you can’t stop thinking about? And you would do just about anything to get more stories about them? THIS IS THAT BOOK. It felt like this beautifully crafted extended epilogue where I got to fall in love all over again with Tristan and Isolde.

Please please make sure you have read A Heart Sufficient (at minimum) before reading this book!

It was EVERYTHING. I soaked up these pages loving the communication and teamwork and the I would burn the world down for you vibes that only come from two enemies who became lovers (e2l supremacy). I appreciated how the conflict came from the outside and allowed Tristan and Isolde to only become closer as they leaned on each other to solve the problems before them.

And WOOOOO this was heated. In the best, closed door books can still be heated, kind of way. I just AHH. I can’t form the right words. I loved this story. I am obsessed with these two (A Heart Sufficient was the only book I read twice in 2024).

READ IT AND THANK ME LATER.

 VERY MUCH ENJOYED.

I feel like that sums it up really well. It was just a solidly good book. I had some minor hang-ups but I feel like I learned quite a bit about wildland firefighting and loved these characters too.

The setting was cool. I liked that it was basically in one location that provided a lot of forced proximity and moments for Reed and Hailey to interact. They had a good spark from the beginning and I thought the chemistry was well maintained.

Reed bugged me just a little bit because I feel like he wasn’t serious enough (and my personality was clashing so hard and shouting IT’S NOT TIME FOR JOKES) but I digress. And I think a little more background was needed with Hailey’s backstory too. We got a bunch of flashback chapters and moments that HELPED but I felt like I was still missing something.

Any who, truly good read. Hit on the emotional front too with the last 25%??! I liked the writing style and look forward to reading more books by this author.
