Pretty good book. My main issue with it was that I couldn't decide if the author meant for it to be more historical 'fiction' or an actual history novel. She took the journal of the main woman, but the way she went about expanding it was somewhat boring and WAY too descriptive (I don't need a list of every single animal they have, etc.). The facts and figures of the book were intriguing (and devastating) and that part I did enjoy learning about.

VERY GOOD. I spent most of the book, truly considering what kind of world it would be like if this were all real. I loved the plot twists and the ending.

Pretty good book! I enjoyed how much 'darker' it was than the first book. Though to me the book did drag a little bit, and ended differently (yet the same?) towards what I was thinking. But, overall good, very quick read!

Pretty good book! I liked the magic & history components. I don't particularly enjoy love triangles, but this one didn't annoy me enough to stop reading haha. I'm curios about the second book and how it comes full circle!

Salt: A World History

DID NOT FINISH

Just couldn't get through this. While interesting, it was written like a text book, so a bit dry and too many pieces about recipes. Moving on.

SO GOOD.

Twists and turns that I didn't see coming! Every time I started to peg things (I at least got some right ;) ) they would change and it was great.

I'm excited for the next book to see how the antagonist meets their fate. Muwhahaha

Definitely a sad book. Reading from a different perspective always pulls the heart strings. I can't even begin to imagine what they went through when Russia 'took over' Berlin.

Reread May 2023: I am not prepared for Light Bringer.

REAALLLY GOOD.

It was a bit slow going at first, having to set the scene for the 'new' series. But, as the book went along and the characters developed your heartstrings are pulled more than once.

Darrow made me SO ANGRY, and that better be resolved by the time this series ends because he can make better choices if you ask me. Sevro, still as sassy and mad as ever needs more light on him in the books with Victra, but based off the ending I assume that must be coming.

I'm not quite sure what's going to happen to a group of them, but am so intrigued for the next book. Still love this series!!

This was my first Holly Black book and I really enjoyed it! Her version of 'Faerie' is along the lines of Cassandra Clare and since I LOVE her books I'm glad this one followed suit.

There were good twists and turns and what I thought was going to happen was definitely different. I liked the world building, and the way the characters all had a story to tell.

Looking forward to the next one!
