This was a really interesting collection of short stories. They all had a horror theme to them to some degree, but they were all very different. It had everything from body horror and ghost stories to fairytales and fables. My favourite stories were The embodiment, Goodbye my love, Scars, and Ruler of the winds and sands.
I had high hopes for this book but it had a few issues for me. The first one being the lack of contractions in the dialogue. It worked for the characters who weren't native English speakers, but for the Americans it felt clunky and unnatural. I realize the author is Spanish so that's probably how she speaks herself, but its something that really takes me out of a story when the dialogue feels unnatural.
Secondly, I didn't like the abrupt start of the book. It was confusing and disorienting and I feel like I never fully got into a comfortable groove with the characters because of it. This could've been easily better by just switching the order of events around a little bit in the first chapter.
Thirdly, I didn't like the love interest. For most of the book he felt creepy and overbearing, constantly pushing boundaries and crossing lines. I found it a little bit scary tbh. Yes he did turn out to be a nice guy in the end but it didn't feel 100% genuine and he still seemed a bit creepy tbh.
I did like Lina and I liked her journey of learning how to trust and to be more honest with herself and her family, I wish we'd spent more time with her family I think it would've made for a better story.

God this book was boring. I've never been so happy to finish a book. It's not even that it was bad, it's just that nothing happened and anything that was mildly interesting in the story was glazed over and then you skipped ahead like 3 week all of a sudden, like we got no details about anything interesting. It also bothered me how childish the main character was for someone in her thirties she acted like and had the narrative voice of a teenager.
This was really cute. I like that it was written by two best friends. I also liked how much healthy communication was in the book.

This was a very heavy book. I read a lot of stories about trauma that don't really bother me on an emotional level, but this one definitely got me more than others, so I would read with caution. It was well written and interesting, but I found myself wanting a bit more from it than what I got.

Hmm. I really enjoyed the first half of this book but the second half really dragged. Also I didn't like the sex scenes, and I am not a sex scene person, I usually skim them anyways, but I especially didn't like these ones. That being said I still did enjoy the book overall, and i liked the ending too

It was okay, not amazing but a nice read. The second half was a lot better than the first.
