An incredibly disturbing book that really shows how casually evil human beings can be. It definitely felt realistic and very sad. Despite how completely awful the story was (in a subject matter way, not in a quality of writing way) I still didn't see that ending coming. This is definitely one that will sit with you after you're finished reading. And not for the faint of heart.
Honestly this book was extremely depraved. The majority of the book was literally torture porn. If I found out someone I knew was getting off to stuff like this I would not feel safe around them, and I find it odd that reading this kind of stuff in books is seemingly more socially acceptable than it would be if they were just seeking it out online. I don't want to offend anyone but also I am very kink critical and I think if you like this kind of stuff you honestly need to examine why that is. Yes, it's fiction but it doesn't exist in a vacuum. I would not recommend this book to anyone.
Everyone told me how mind blowing this book was which I think set me up with higher expectations than I should have had. Don't get me wrong, I loved it. Dark Matter is a great mix of really interesting Sci-Fi, romance, and action that had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. But while it was super twisty, I saw all the twists coming. It didn't hurt the experience for me but my mind wasn't blown.
This was my second Blake Crouch book, and I have to say I love the way his characters are fleshed out and how you can feel the love they have for their families. I don't read a ton of books with male protagonists but I find I really connected to Jason. I will say that he seems super similar to the main character in Upgrade though.
The premise of this book is obviously not unique, but the way it was described and the general world building was super interesting. It reminded me of One by Richard Bach which was one of my favourite books as a kid. I definitely find the concept of a multi-verse and especially one made up of all our choices, super interesting.

I really liked this one!! The first book that solely focuses on Ax. All his little journal entries and insights about humans were so funny. But we also get to see a lot of depth and trauma from him. This book really helped flesh him out properly as a character and also starts to give a lot more interesting insight into the Andalites.
Meh. It was okay but definitely overhyped. I'm still gonna read the next one tho. I liked the premise but a lot of it didn't work for me. I really didn't like all the classism and I GET where it was going and it did get there but it still wasn't enjoyable to read

It's the end of the world and Wren is stuck an ocean away from her family, the only way to get back in time to say goodbye is to team up with the Prince of England.
This book was phenomenal! What could have been a completely absurd story with the most random mix of tropes, ended up being both light hearted and pretty deep/emotional. Writing a book like this and making it this good takes true talent!
It was like Don't Look Up meets The Prince And Me in the best way. The ending made me actually gasp out loud!! I'm gonna be waiting on the edge of my seat for a sequel.
I definitely recommend picking this one up asap!!
Thanks to Netgalley for the arc

This was a VERY heavy book. It deals with a lot of different abuse and trauma, but in my opinion it was well worth it. Such a beautifully written book. It was super engaging and I read the whole thing in a sitting. It is written in Caribbean Creole so there were some words and ways of speaking that I didn't understand, but it didn't take away from the story for me at all.
