((This is the first Rainbow Rowel book I’ve read and honestly I was so shocked to find out she’s not British...the book made me feel at home?? Like everything about how she wrote made it feel like she really was part of the UK, and honestly reading slang I know in a book was such a nice change, i love it...imma have to read more accurate UK books more often...))

THIS WAS AMAZING!
I always love horror/thriller books but I usually am quite skeptical when it comes to them in YA, but this did not disappoint. This was just a really good murder mystery “retelling” and I recommend it so much!
Audrey Rose is such a refreshing female character to be honest, I adored her so much and her subtle f*ck you’s to society, she’s such a badass and doesn’t care what anyone thinks. I also really liked the love interest too, though Thomas is kinda an arrogant asshole at the beginning, I grew to love him and I liked him more and more as he showed his confidence and respect for Audrey.
It was just so nice to have such an empowering female character in a historical novel, big shout out to Thomas and Audrey’s Uncle for being feminists and believing in Audrey and assisting her in her many ~endeavours~.
Also the ending was pretty satisfying and I do like the fact that you could just leave it there and not carry on with the series as it wraps up nicely (though i definitely will be continuing!)
Anyway I just really liked this book and I totally recommend it, especially if you like historical fiction, murder mysteries or serial killer stuff! (Also!! shout out to the audiobook narrator, her voice was glorious!)

DNF!
I really did not get far through this book, the premise was intriguing and i really do think it had potential...but i really could not get on with the writing at all and honestly the main character just seemed like a moron.
I usually don’t mind “flowery” writing but this was just metaphor after metaphor and I couldn’t get on with it at all. It just wasn’t making much sense to me and I didn’t feel like I could get through one more page!
At least I can say I tried though I will never be trying again. I commend anyone who actually likes this book. I couldn’t even bring myself to rate it 1* cos it just felt far too generous

I couldn’t have asked for a better book to be my first read of 2019!!
I absolutely adored this book, I don’t think i’ll ever read a Christina Henry book i won’t love!
The writing was so lyrical and just beautiful and the story...especially the take on mermaids was so cool! I really love these kinds of “retellings” where a completely different spin is put on it, the outcome was so unique and i loved every single word.
I just really wish it was longer! I can’t get enough of this story, it was just so good!

“Death’s favourites don’t die”
Didn’t think reality tv and vampires would ever work together but Black really did that!! I LOVED THIS SO MUCH!
This was the most unique take on vampires i’ve read in a longgggg time and i’ve read a lot of them! The world building was so well done, the characters were really interesting, I love Tana so much she was such a good main character. Somehow the insta-love worked well too, props to the author there wow, I found myself really hoping for Gavriel and Tana. Also just as you think everything’s going to work out, plot twist(!) more drama, I really got into this book, I couldn’t stop reading!
I really missed the vampire genre and just needed something new to keep it alive for me, so I turned to Holly Black after how much i loved the cruel prince! I’m really loving how inclusive her books are and I feel this is going to set in a long time readership for me. I just wish this wasn’t a standalone...
I. NEED. MORE!

I tried to read this back in March but...I didn't wanna make myself wait so long for QOAAD so here we are like a week after it came out finally finishing it!!
I. Loved. This. So. Much! I never know what to say when I finish Cassandra Clare books, and yet again I am just speechless. I love all the characters so much in this trilogy and just all the references are obviously to die for. I really can't wait to see where this trilogy ends, but at the same time I'm really not ready to see my boy Julian suffer...
The ending left me so shook, I honestly want to cry right now, and now I'm really glad I waited to have QOAAD first before finishing this! I'm so ready to jump into the next book (though I'm really scared to read it tbhhhhh I can't face it!!)
As I said I really never know what to say for Cassie's books!! When I finish them I'm always in a state somewhere between super happy (bc of reading about the characters) and just distressed!! I am just so not okay after that ending.

I just finished this and i’m sat here smiling like an idiot omg I adored this!
This is one of the most relatable books I’ve read in a while. I feel like it was just what I needed right now!
I’m not much of a contemporary reader but I really loved Simon Vs. so i had to read this one too! I really was not disappointed by this, I loved every moment of the book, the rep, everything, it was just pretty relatable to me (the references and all omg!!) and it was such an easy read, i love Albertali’s writing style. I really liked seeing Simon & Bram again too they’re just too cute.
Leah is the biggest disaster Bi and she swears so much but she’s so pure and I love her.
Abby and Leah are so cute I really do ship them, disaster Bi’s together!! Abby trying to impress Leah with Harry Potter references is such a mood, they’re really cute together :’) Ahhh the prom chapter was so cute!! the kiss!! I’m dying!! I need another book!! College girlfriends please!!
I really love Becky Albertali and I’m pretty sure I’ll read all of her books because she just has a way of writing which I reallllllly love!

It’s been such a battle to finish this book (It’s been 4 months!!), I’ve lost it multiple times, I fell into a massive book slump, I’ve listened to part of it on audio, part of it I read on ebook before I got my copy...but it was all worth it!!
I loved this book soooo much, despite the large amount of time it took me to read it. I loved the entire story so much, it was so different to what I expected it to be like, but different in a good way! Percy and Monty are just to die for and their adventure was so amazing and adorable yet so gripping. I really do ship them so much, and Monty is just so relatable I love him.
I love Felicity so much as well, she’s just incredible and I’m super excited book 2 is out now so I can read more about her ahhhh!! I feel like it’s gonna be somehow even better than this one, these books are so amazing and the representation is great, I love Mackenzie Lee so much, I wanna read everything she writes! Even the authors note was great, I just love when authors add in historical context to the story and time period it’s set, it’s so interesting.
I kept wanting to finish this book so badly, I read most of it in the first week, but I think subconsciously I didn’t want it to end so it just didn’t till now. I’m glad I’ve finally finished it and got to enjoy the story in full. I haven’t read a ~historical~ novel in a long time and I forgot how much I love them! The fantasy twists made my heart so happy as well.
((Also this has one of the prettiest book covers I’ve seen in a while and I’m so glad I own it, not just for the glorious words inside, but also for that beautiful design. ))

I decided to re-read this and annotate this, I haven't read it in years and it was pretty nostalgic to do so! L J Smith has such an easy writing style to get into and her characters are always super likeable.
I missed simple books like these, they're all under 200 pages each, they're so easy to readdddd. I probably won't read the other 6 for a while, I always hate getting to book 9 and not having a book 10 to dive into.

Actual rating: close to a 4.5!
I loved the heck out of this book! I read it in 2 sittings (2 because I didn’t wanna finish it bc I was loving it tbh) and it was just incredible!
I haven’t really had too much luck with Victoria Schwab before, I liked the first ADSOM book but that’s it really, so I didn’t really have too many expectations going into this.
I did thoroughly enjoy this book! I loved the plot, the premise, the setting (!! ♥.♥) everything!! I really can’t wait for a 2nd book hopefully! I’m pretty sure this helped slow my reading slump and I think I’m excited to dive into another book now, this was such an easy read I think it’s kickstarted me back into reading!
