Took me a little to figure out what to rate this. I liked the beginning and the end few chapters a lot but the middle was very filler in my head. I know things happened in the middle but I just almost can’t remember if they were important or not. I did like the beginning and end enough enough to rate it a 4, same as the first book.

I was so right not to trust Cardan though!! I didn’t much like him in the first book and I certainly don’t like him now! Holly Black’s gonna have to pull some right stunts in book 3 if she wants me to end up liking him...

Holy hell do these books have drama!! I was literally on the edge of my seat, multiple times in the last 20% of the book especially! I've literally been reading these one a day.

This one was great, so much drama, I wasn't even sure what I wanted to happen was going to! These are 100% becoming a guilty pleasure series for when I just want something fun, romantic and quite exciting to read. I really did love America, she was such a great character, so passionate, and I'm so glad with how it turned out. I don't usually like political intrigue kinda dystopian fiction but these are lovely!

I really loved the story within these first 3 books and honestly I'd be super happy with leaving it as is now my ship is endgame but the show must go on and I'll be reading The Heir soon...

Ugh finally finished!! That seemed to take absolutely forever.

I did enjoy the book I think, it was good, much better and obviously fleshed out that the TV show was but my god was it long. A lot of times it did take a while to get to the point or there was a lot of filler which maybe could have shaved a good 100 pages off but I still had a good time reading! I do honestly hate Michael though, God he's annoying as hell...

I’d definitely recommend this if you saw the TV show as it definitely misses a lot out and speeds and skips over a lot of things I thought were important. Think I’m gonna read book 2 once the new season is out and compare

Ahhhh so many twists! So many will they won’t they’s!!! I’m still rooting for America and Maxon!

AND I STILL CAN’T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE 8s AND THEN THE LATER PLOT TWISTS! I WAS SO STRESSED

Excited to get to book 3 soon and see what happens next. I’m dying for the actual selection to be overrrrr

I was not expecting to like this as much as I did! It was super well written, the main characters were really likeable and I really enjoyed the story!!

It was kinda like political intrigue crossed with a non violent hunger games and I literally read the book in a day, I hope I like the rest of them just as much.

I really like America she's a really good MC BUT IS SHE BLIND ?? IT TOOK HER SO LONG TO REALISE SHE LIKED MAXON I WAS SCREAMING AT HER!!! They better be endgame I'm invested. I can't wait to read book 2 and see where it goes and what happens next

Reread: 5 / 5 Stars

Okay so I just got done re reading this and I think I’m dead omfg. I definitely didn’t have my head screwed on last time Cos I only gave it 3 stars??? ITS EASILY 5 SO EASILY!! IM OBSESSED I LOVED THIS BOOK SO SO MUCH! IDEK WHAT TO SAY BUT I LOVE MY BOYS SO MUCH (ADAM I LOVE UUUUU) I LOVE BLUE. THE AUTHOR HAS SUCH A WAY OF WORLDBUILDING AND GIVING YOU INFO JUST AT THE RIGHT TIME ITS JUST *CHEFS KISS* AHHHHHH!

I can see now why this series is so hyped it truly is amazing and I can’t wait to get onto the next books just ahhh! I’m so attached to these characters and I just wanna read this book over and over and over again omg.

First Read: 3 / 5 Stars

I may need to re read this at some point because I kept feeling lost and was struggling to pay attention but I definitely had a good time reading this (I think) ! I switched between the physical copy and the audiobook a bit and I must say the audiobook was great!!

I did kind of struggle to keep the boys separate in my head and occasionally got them confused (but that's just a me problem, a re read in the future before I continue the series will fix that).

The premise was really interesting and I loved Blue as a main character! I love all the author’s series and I really hope this will grow to be one of my favourites once I read the rest!

I was going to give this 4*'s but I don't know I think me taking a break from reading it kind of dulled my love for it? (my bad there!!) I did really like the book though it was really interesting, I'm not usually a fan of the political intrigue, sitting around enemies kinda stories but I did like this one! It really felt like things were progressing and enough was happening to keep me engaged and interested in what was going on. I liked the main character a lot and the world building was nice, also the magic system was really cool. At one point I was sure I was gonna give this 4 even 5 stars but then I had to take a break because life got in the way so I forgot some of the things in between then and finishing the book tonight, if I had read it in one go I think I would have rated it higher.

I will say though I will eventually pick up the next one and probably the final one in the trilogy as I am pretty curious how it'll all play out especially with the end of the book's developments

I TRIED MY HARDEST TO DRAG THIS OUT AS LONG AS I COULD SO IT WOULDN'T END BUT I FINALLY FINISHED IT!

I can't believe the journey this book just took me on, I still can't believe there's even a sequel despite just reading it! I honestly don't know what to say about it except that I absolutely loved every single minute of it. I really wish Rainbow Rowell wrote more fantasy because I'd eat that up so fast, her writing is incredible. I swear I love these characters so much and I really can't wait for another book to come out. I usually don't like books with multiple perspectives but there's just something about these books I vibe with, it's just done so well and it just adds so much to the story there's no character I don't like to read from

I just love the world of this book and my boys Simon and Baz (Baz especially oh my god I adore himmm), I also absolutely love Shepherd my new boy!! He was such an interesting character and AT THE END OMG! I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE WHERE THE STORY GOES WITH HIM IN THE NEXT BOOK!
SPEAKING OF THAT CLIFFHANGER! I'M SO MAD I NEED THE NEXT BOOK RIGHT NOW I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS/WHAT'S GOING ON! ALSO I CAN'T JUST BE LEFT WITH SIMON AND BAZ LIKE T H A T. AHHHHHHHH

ANYWAY 5* I JUST FINISHED THIS ABOUT 5 MINUTES AGO SO I'M ALL OVER THE PLACE!

After months of reading this and it even turning into a buddy read (I started it on release day) it's over and I'm currently sat crying about it at 2am, I. Love. It. So. Much.

I feel like it took me so long to finish this because I wanted to savour it, you only get to experience a book for the first time once so I wanted it to last. I absolutely adore this book so much, it's heartbreaking and beautiful but also made me so happy. Somehow I wish it was longer, I love all the character so muchhh and all the ships, gah it's just so amazing! I don't even know what to say!

I don't think I'll ever read a Cassandra Clare book that won't get 5*. They're just so incredible, I'll never get over how amazing the world building alone is!

I literally just bougut the regular paperback the other day so now I own 2 copies, hell yeah.

Anyway I'm so excited for what's to come and that God damn cliffhanger got me, (I have RSOM on my shelf to go read!!) I can't wait!

I actually quite enjoyed this. It was such a quick read, and the premise was really interesting, I’ll probably be carrying on this series as a kind of reading slump fix because they’re just so easy to read and get through. I’m pretty excited to see where the story goes, despite some of the characters getting a little annoying at times haha

(The only thing that stopped me from rating it higher was the occasional weird references to LGBT characters, but I put that down to it being written almost 10 years ago. It was a little weird to read those parts and not find issue.)
