Honestly more like a 3.5,,,it was good…but it didn’t quite hit. I feel like a lot of this book was filler, a lot of the last book was filler and if they just combined them and made the series a duology it could be incredible! Book 1 was such a high, if you wanna try this series honestly read book 1 and leave it at that, it does work well as a standalone!

This book was frankly just far too long 600 pages could have easily been cut in half and nothing would have been lost I can’t lie. A shame because I liked the characters and the world building a lot, just the plot fell flat. Least the ending was okay and I can say I read it! Need someone to love me like Reid loves Lou tbh

In the absolute most loving way...Jay Kristoff...i hate you !!

i'm so mad at myself for not finding time sooner to read this book! it. was. so. good!

Genuinely think im obsessed with the writing style in this series, it was a bit hard to get used to at first in book 1 but now, i just love learning alllll the additional details and worldbuilding the world has to offer! it's so deeply thought out it baffles me. Anyway 5*, this book hurt my fucking soul and Mia is my precious baby angel and im so aghhhhhh!!

Imma say 3 for this? Listen I love books with competitions or games in them but this was just a little weird for me. I liked the concept but the execution fell a bit flat. I think it’s the way the book was structured more than anything, sometimes I didn’t realise we’d switched to a different character’s part so I kept having to go back and re read parts to keep myself orientated so I had any clue what was going on.

As I was reading I kept having theories about what was happening and what was going to happen and honestly all of those just seemed like they’d be better than what did happen. The ending was so abrupt, there wasn’t really any resolution at all, I was just sat here like oh that’s it??

I spent half the book just pulling comparisons from the movie Ready or Not, so if you liked that movie try this book? 3 maybe 3.5* for this im undecided…I’m still not sure if I enjoyed it past day 3 :’)

This was so eerie and magical. I really loved this a lot! I lovedddddd the setting, Ora and Domek were really great POV characters, and the lore was just sooooo good! If this is on your tbr and you need something to read that’s easy and a standalone? This is it! It does a great job of explaining everything you need to know within the story, and the pacing is fantastic.

I’m not sure what I was expecting from this but the historical time period, Prague as the setting and all of the monsters just made it such my cup of tea! The little eeks of romance were a delightful edition honestly. 4.5* rounded to 5!

No no no no you can't do that to me noooo!! The endinggg noooo!

This was absolutely a filler book in the series and I can't lie not much at all happened in the first 80% of the book, it was mostly just sitting around for half and then gathering allies for the other half and that was it. The last 20% however?? THAT's where the action is! This last part of the book had me gasping it was so good!! I'm in pain though how could the author do this to me noooo my babyyy!

4* for this because even though I loved the characters and what happened it was still a lot of filler and it took a while to get going, it could have easily been condensed down!

This was great fun, truly! It combines 3 of my favourite things: Dracula lore, alt history and the Victorian era so this was just great!! Seeing just how Dracula could influence and corrupt this time period was just super cool and it felt like playing a game of ~spot the literary reference and historical figure~ and it was delightful!

I did find myself struggling to remember characters at the beginning because there were just so many names and similar characters but once I caught on it was a lot easier to distinguish them.

I probably won’t continue to re read the series as it’s mainly the alt history Victorian era that drew me to these books in the first place but this works really well as a standalone anyway!

I loved this sooooo much! So much action and drama and a little mystery plus my fave sapphics rn, perfection. Honestly still can’t get over how cool the magic system was in this duology, it’s so unique and just ahhh so cool! I loved these books a lot!

Yeah I don’t think this author is for me…at all. The plots and ideas are just so good and I really really want to love them but something in the execution seems to keep falling flat.

The narrators in this book were the most unreliable annoying people ever. Now I love a good unreliable narrator but man these characters were lying to not only the reader or each other but to themselves! They were just causing drama where drama wasn’t even there, like if they didn’t lie to themselves bam problem done away.

Also the ending? Wtf was that lmao. There’s predictable and haha I suspected you then there’s whatever that was.

2.5* bc I did really like the concept again like the last one I read, it just wasn’t executed in a very good way…

3* for this one. It was fun, I enjoyed the premise a lot but it ended up being super predictable and a lot of the characters were just awful people lmao. It was cool to see how the murder mystery party evolved and who was behind it all for sure but I really could predict this one easily, and I’m not usually one for guessing the endings! It just felt…dragged out and boring?? I had to finish though because the premise of a murder mystery party was just so intriguing? I wish it just went differently really, had more unpredictable drama and better pacing
