Did not finish book. Stopped at 13%.
I just did not vibe with this at all tbh, the writing just wasn’t for me and the characters were annoying. I’m sad bc I was really excited for this but it was just weird.

Yeah this was not it for me…maybe I’ll retry again in the future but I was just bored out of my mind! This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and it just wasn’t doing it for me at all

I am so gutted this series is over. This was incredible!

Honestly the world building and the lore is so well thought out and interesting that I just wanna stay here forever. I love El’s POV and her narration so much and god this was just a great ending to the series. I feel like I can’t say much or I’ll spoil it!!

I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book bc when I read the 2nd I assumed it was a duology but how the last book ended just??? Screaming! The plot of this one was honestly so so interesting, I’m glad there was a 3rd book and I just have no words…none…just my god please read this trilogy please!

Edmond?? SERIOUSLY??

I really wasn’t sure what to rate this because I honestly DID have a good time. The story was promising and the idea was there and it did keep me interested till the end but the writing was just…weird. I haven’t read many books where you switch from 1st to 3rd person but it just felt really jankey to me? It just made it feel really disjointed and hard to switch POV’s when the writing changed.

The writing in general felt a bit week if I’m honest. Like a lot of “we’re doing this, now this” vibes and it moved a little too quickly for the story tbh. Like we solved the main “mystery” half way through then just kinda sat around till  there was 50 pages left and like 3 things happened all at once. The ending was honestly overwhelming and just came out of nowhere?

Also can we talk about the insta love?? Listen…after like 1 day of meeting “Edmond” the MC was like right yep vampires aren’t that bad he’s sexy wow I’m in love with him and just kinda changed her entire principles?? It was kinda annoying af but if I ignore the insta lovey part the pining romance wasn’t terrible?? I just didn’t like how it got there?

Anyway despite my brain imaging Edmond close to Edward Cullen bc the name threw me for a loop, I might actually read the sequel when it comes out bc I did have fun reading it despite the flaws? I think the best way I can describe this is “Early 2010’s paranormal fiction” vibes, writing and all.

I read this literally in one day which doesn’t happen often for me! I had such a great time with this!

Alosa was great, the lore was good, I loveee the plot!! I think I really love pirate stories after this because like this was so much fun?? A closed setting of a ship is really interesting tbh, seeing how you can evolve a story in one location! It was so gooood! Plus the romance side plot was really fun!

I’m kinda obsessed with Alexis Henderson atm, this being her first novel??? Omg, a work of art.

The writing is so descriptive and chilling and the story was so good! I love her main characters a lot and how she writes these stories of women being wronged and how they can find their strength in their situation…it’s just ugh so good.

oh oh OHHHH THIS! I'm gonna need everyone to pick this up ASAP.

I dragged this out for literal months because I was enjoying it far too much to let it end. It was dark, mysterious...wonderful! The ending was so amazing and the writing was so beautifully descriptive, the author really knows how to paint a chilling scene! From the first chapter I knew this was going to be a favourite.

If you were disappointed by Gallant...this feels like that but 1000x better, deeper and more beautifully gothic. If you loved Gallant...same thing applies, it's like that but taken further and just even more spooky, gothic romance vibes, the historical setting was perfect too! The mystery was amazing, all the pieces of the puzzle slowly fit into the puzzle and I enjoyed the unraveling so much. The lore and "magic system" (idk if I can call it that? if you've read it you know what i mean!) was super unique and just so beautiful. I honestly adored the romance in this, I'm not really usually one for romance but...my g o d. Amazing! Also shoutout to the gore/horror elements in this! It just really hit every point I love in a book this for sure.

I cannot wait at all for the next book I want it nowwwwww! GIVE ME FOXGLOVE NOW

I don’t think I can describe this book in a better way than Kayla already did so I’m just gonna direct you to that review, it sums it up perfectly: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4867519072

I can say though that this was my first experience with Paul Tremblay and it won’t be my last

I finished this last week and completely blanked on writing a review Omg…

Anyway 10/10 wrap up to the series!! Everything gets tied up in a nice little bow which I love! The climax and conclusion were really great, I loved how everything fell into place and the plan came together, lots of stakes in this book!!
