Ohhhhh!! This was so good! I'm giving this a 5* easily! I feel like I flew through this book once I got used to the new narration. Armand is a really interesting storyteller, it was seriously so intriguing to see everything that happened in his life, his journey, his perspective on events we've already seen from other POV's...it was just overall really bloody compelling! I honestly don't know what to say about this one but it's my favourite since QOTD and I can only hope the next book is just as good!

Way less vampires than I had hoped! The murder mystery thing was fun and the twist at the end was interesting but overall it wasn’t anything special? I appreciated the gore but man I wish there was more show on that than discover after to keep it more interesting. That said it felt like that one “scooby doo castle Dracula to film a MV” episode which kept me pushing through

Hannah Whitten you have my HEART!

This was so good! I went into this knowing honestly nothing about the plot just that it had something to do with royalty, poison and necromancy and my god it was not what I expected in the best way! I truly loved all the lore (and Lore lmao) in the plot and all the conspiracy and political intrigue stuff, it was really well done! I feel like it had a really good balance between romance and action and was just truly great at keeping pace. I enjoyed all the twists and the spice and the betrayal a lot. I'm really excited to see where the love triangle that's happening goes too, I usually don't enjoy them but i feel like the chemistry and dynamics were so well built i had a lot of fun with it as a sideplot!

Anyway just know I loved everything about this and it's an easy 5*! I really can't wait for the next one give me it NOW!

Honestly somewhat unexpectedly I adored this! An easy 5*! It was a bit rocky for me at first, despite my love of vampires, I wasn’t really vibing with it (I’m not sure why!)…but my GOD could I not put it down the further I got! I’m so glad I didn’t stop reading it. The twists and turns just kept on coming and coming. I’m truly in awe that so much could be crammed into 400 pages as well!

It was truly so fun and thrilling and a great mystery, with a side plot romance that ruined my life…enemies to lovers vibes fr! I loved the characters in this a lot. Fin really was an interesting MC and I enjoyed her a lot!

I can’t explain properly but this book gave me the same feeling reading ACOTAR for the first time when I was 16 gave me. Just…same vibes truly? Might be the whole seasons and Fin giving the same female MC vibes but I think it just added to my enjoyment? It felt like old 2017 YA and it was refreshing and somehow nostalgic! (Funnily enough I couldn’t get into ACOTAR at first either so wild!)

My only complaint about it was I wanted a little more show than tell at times!!

Imma say 3.5 on this one I think. I enjoyed the ghosts and the squeamish horror aspects but I’m not sure? I think I just wanted MORE. It ended up feeling very middle ground so 3.5 feels right. I think I just got a little bored at times because it was a really slow moving plot! I wanted more from it? I can’t explain

Also I didn’t expect this to have a queer romance sideplot, unexpected but it was interesting to add to the dynamics in the story! And I love a good queer romance, a shame it was really slow burn and a side aspect, again I wanted more!

I’m a little sad this is a stand-alone (to my knowledge atleast!) because omg do I wish it leaned more into the romance, went more in-depth with the plot and really spent more time on things because it felt a little rushed!

I am however still rating 4* because queer rapunzel retelling with vampires is the coolest concept ever and I really enjoyed it!! I loved the lore and the different kinds of magic, the vampires, the whole bone wall thing was super cool and the forest too!! It just felt a bit surface level and a little rushed the further I got into it (like it was trying to get wrapped up asap! It needed another book imo, 5*’s if it would have been a duology and we got more depth!)

Okay so this wasn’t bad? But I got it in Fairyloot as the adult book and it just didn’t feel like an adult fantasy. It could have easily passed for YA! There was a lot of things that were a bit eh about it e.g all the repetitive piss / fart swears in the book? It was just childish feeling at times!!

That said concept wise it WAS interesting and fun! I just wish it was a bit more adult to fit its classification, also that the romance was a bit less ??? to kinda lovers and it just decided what was going on a bit sooner! The pace was a little off putting but I did enjoy the concept enough to finish the book, if there’s a sequel I’ll probably read that too.

Weird, spooky, so atmospheric! I can’t speak on the retelling aspect because I’ve never actually read House of Usher which it’s based on but it had strong Crimson Peak vs The Last of Us vibes for sure!! So weird I loved it!

I’m convinced this series is my favourite series EVER. It seriously never disappoints, flawless, beautiful, everything I ever need in a book every time! God so much happened in here and I couldn’t put it down at allll.

Yet again this was just incredible, I loved the story, all the twists and turns, the gore! It’s just truly flawless to me, like the references alone spark so much joy! That carousel scene was so lost boys god I am obsessed.

This seriously hit every trope I like in vampire media yet again, the characters were amazing, the mystery was a ride and I cannot wait for the next (and hopefully not last) book!!

This was perfect! The right amount of gore, suspense, twists, horror tropes!! I loved the length too, I feel like it was super fast paced and to the point and I couldn’t put it down! Really had a lot of fun with this and hope the author writes more horror in the future because this was just the right amount of weird, supernatural and creepy I love!
