I love this author with all my heart but this didn’t land for me! I’m still giving it a solid 3 for writing and I defo think this will be some people’s cup of tea, but I was left a little disappointed. I had to claw my way through this book! I’ve read the original Carmilla many many times and I know the pacing in that is slow too but this was slow slow! The flashbacks weren’t doing it for me, the plot was just logged down by them at times for me!

That said, the writing was absolutely stunning in tone and vibe, how things were phased and written was truly gorgeous. But I’d describe this book as more all vibes, low plot, which unfortunately isn’t something I enjoyed! I’d still recommend it if this sounds like your jam!!

This book is like the feeling of the author pulling my heart out of my chest and rip it to shreds infront of me. Gimmie that second book RIGHT NOW DONT DO THIS TO ME

I’ve never read a Rachel Gillig book before (I know I know One Dark Window has been on my tbr forever I’ll get to it!) but this certainly will not be the last I read from her this was incredible!

Enchantingly beautiful, hingeing on gothic vibes and religious fervour, I could not put this down. It was just so gorgeously written, heartbreaking and just so well done.

The lore was fascinating, the diviners and the gods worked so well with the story. The gargoyle was one of my fav characters too, what a sweetheart :’)

Anyway 10/10 for the plot, the incredible writing, the general vibes, and the little side romance!

Ps. Give me more books with romance side plots over romantasy! I saw a lot of people disappointed that this WASNT a romantasy but I feel like the level of romance we got was perfect for the story and the character development, it fit in perfectly but didn’t overshadow the characters themselves or the overarching plot!

I…have no words. My heart has been thoroughly ripped out of my chest and torn into tiny little pieces.

I’m not even sure what to say about this book to not spoil it (though if you’ve read the hunger games you
Obviously know the outcome…) but Haymitch…my poor Haymitch…the epilogue had me in tears! Also note for the gore in this one, absolute diabolical !!

(On a super personal note I just keep thinking about how much my Grandad would have loved this book, he borrowed my set of the trilogy back in 2013 and loved them! I wish he could read this ♡)

I received an arc of this book as an arc in exchange for an honest review!

This book singlehandedly pulled me out of my reading slump! I was so glad to be back into the Guides For Dating Vampires world and yet again this book did not disappoint. Every book in this series has been a 5* for me with this one being no exception.

There's just something about how carefully vrafted the plot line is in these books, the complex characters and how this is all layered together with such gorgeous slow burn romance and spicy scenes that are perfectly balanced!

If you're a vampire reader and you want something thats queer, unique in lore and has glorious bite scenes then you need to give this series a try asap!

This book single-handedly broke m heart and pieced it back together all in the one day it took me to read it and I couldn't have loved it any more than I did, perfection. I don't want to say too much as I want this to stay spoiler free but ahhh this was IT! I love Rahil and Merc so much and I'm so glad to have them as new characters to hold close to my heart.

This was weird and strange and just such an incredible experience! I was honestly captivated by the crime and mystery elements of this and how it was overlayed with the supernatural! I’m soooo in love with this book it’s unreal! I’ve never actually read a Korean book in translation before but this was so amazing and I need to read anything the author puts out!!
