DEAD I'M DEAD! THIS SLOW BURN IS KILLING MEEEE!! THEY'RE SUCH IDIOTS!

Honestly though this was such a fun ride! This series is so goofy and just such a good time. I really love all the wild twists and revelations we got in this one and how Evie really felt like she'd grown as a character since book 1. I'm so excited for a 3rd book, i neeeeed more and for the slowburn to finally end it's killing me!! Recommend this series big time, it gives cosy funny fantasy but with a bit more edge, morally grey elements and a bitttt higher of stakes whilst still being just fun!!

Eeeek I feel so glad we got to go back to this world even just for a novella! I wish I got time to read this at christmas like i originally planned but I still really loved this regardless. It was such a fun addition to the series and it's seriously such a lovely feel good novella!

This was just not it, after how good How To Kill Your Family was this was just a massive disappointment. I think the plot had a lot of promise so it wasn't quite a DNF but the strange speculative elements just didn't work for me at all. I feel like this book just didn't know what it wanted to be and it really took a lot for me to get through this one!

Just like every book in this series this ripped my heart out and left me devastated. I'm so happy we have a backstory for Nadya!  She was such an interesting character in the series and I'm so glad we got to see what made her into the character we know. All of these books just have a way of feeling so raw and real, even with a fantasy setting half the time, it's one of my favourite series ever.

Visiting one of the drowned worlds again was just ugh so good I love these types of worlds a lot, the lore for all of these worlds is just incredible. I really enjoyed this addition to the series eventhough it did make me upset at the ending we all knew was coming...I can't wait to see what the next book in the series is!!

If you haven't picked up the first book in this series yet, what are you doing?? Go grab book 1 right this second and join me in the pain that is the wayward children *sobbing*

This was weird, dark, had big fae energy! Reminded me a lot of Together We Rot and House of Hollow in its vibes, if you’ve read either of those def give this a go. Wasn’t actually expecting the twist at the end of this but really loved it and how it was handled!! Easy 3.5* read! Leah was an interesting MC, a truly flawed character and I loved her perspective a LOT and the use of memories in this really added to the story and the horror!

Gory, chilling, and horrifically accurate to the world we live in, this was INSANE! I feel like we are now distanced enough from the pandemic that COVID horror is both scary as fuck and a stark reminder of just how monstrous people can be.

This was such an intense story, tackling racism, sexism, and the truly disgusting human beings are. Mixed with supernatural elements, this was the perfect level of fucked up but also super emotional. It was seriously intense. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a story with great supernatural horror elements and a disturbingly real edge.

I WANTED THIS TO BE LONGER SOOO BADLY

This was just delightful, it hit all the things I love in books especially vampire ones. Forced proximity, arranged marriage, enemies to lovers vibes. I just wish it was a full length book so so badly, I wanted that build up sooo much! The novella itself was really well paced though, it did a great job of fitting all the drama, plot and revelations into such a short space without it feeling rushed or lacking. I just really want a full version so badly because this really scratched an itch for me in how it was written, the lore (its so interesting GIVE ME MORE I LOVE ALT HISTORY), and the characters!

LOVE LOVE LOVED THIS! I'm sure this won't be the last Rachel Harrison book I pick up! I think this is the second book I've read from her and they've both just been spectacular. I love a good witchy story and this was just perfect, the queer undertones had me living and the general female empowerment vibes from this author is always immaculate. I really enjoyed this one a lot, just wish it was longer to be honest, i was loving the dynamics and the lore so much I was sad for it to end!

This was a really interesting addition to the series! I did accidentally read these out of order, reading book 5 before book 4 but I really enjoyed this one a lot! The plot was intense but easy to follow and it wasn't what I was expecting for this retelling so I LOVED being surprised by this take!  Highly recommend these books as a first dip into dark romance!
