Read this one for the challenge to read a book without putting it down. It was a quick read and very interesting.

This was my summer reading for one of my classes in college. I was already planning on reading this book, so I was very happy to find that this was the required reading. I really enjoyed this book. There were so many little things that really made me think about my life. I'm really excited to write the paper that correlates with this assignment.
2.5/ 5 stars.
My favorite color in the whole entire world is blue. I am so connected to the color that sometimes it feels more like a spiritual connection than an admiration. So, when I found out that there was a book with philosophical account on life that used the color blue as a lens, I ordered it right away. I thought that I would have a spiritual connection to this book because I have one with the color blue. And, to some extent, I think that did happen. However, this book was not what I thought it was going to be. It wasn't really a story. It wasn't really a nonfictional account. I'm still trying to figure out what it was entirely. I'm really glad that I picked it up, because this is a type of book that I have never read before. But, I'm left feeling like I've missed the point.

I'm not going to lie, I found Warsan Shire through Beyonce's "Lemonade". I was completely captivated by that piece of art and I just needed more of it. Thanks to my sister, I was able to find Warsan Shire. I asked for her newest poetry book after having read some of it on the internet. It was so wonderful and raw, there was no way that I couldn't read more of it. My sister pulled through for me once more (THANK YOU KANDA) when she bought me the book for Christmas. It took me only a day to read this book, but I have gone back and read several of the poems over again because they are just so powerful. Warsan just has a way with words that is so beautiful and yet so painful and true. Especially the poems that have to be about the emotions that she or other women feel in this world. Also, the aspects of culture within this story were wonderful as well. Everything felt so relatable to me personally even though I have had completely different experiences than that is described in the poetry. The figurative language took me to a completely different place. It really touched me. I absolutely loved this poetry collection and recommend it to anyone who is into poetry.
After conversations in class, it get's a half star up! I have an appreciation for this play now.
Reread May 2017
WOWIE! This book was a lot different than I remembered it. I first read this book six years ago. When I was 14! I can wholeheartedly say that I did not completely understand this book when I read it the first time. But now I do now and I now see how heavy this book is. I reread it in anticipation for the show. I didn't want to watch without rereading. Now that I have, I'm super interested in seeing where they go with it.

Very emotional book. I almost cried like twenty billion times. I didn't get to crying though. Some parts of the book were very descriptive, at times too much for my liking, but it doesn't ruin the book. Very good book :)

I never had to opportunity to read this book as required reading in high school. So, I thought that I would pick it up to see what everyone was talking about. Overall, this book was enjoyable. I found myself laughing out loud multiple times with Holden's remarks. There were a few points where I wasn't really engaged, and that is the reason why I wasn't in love with it. It wasn't my favorite, but I'm glad a read it.
I had a really hard time reading this book. I found myself questioning or not agreeing with a lot of the agreements that were presented as facts. The best part of this book for me was the end. Not because it was over, but because the information that was presented at the end was the information that I enjoyed the most. I think I'm going to have to sit with this one for a while and think about it in order to see why it didn't really fit well with me as well as I thought it would.
