3.75/5 stars. This one started off somewhat slow for me. I wasn’t super interested in the characters and then all of the sudden I was. There is A LOT that goes on in this story and I found myself getting lost a few times. (Possibly a audiobook problem.) However, I found myself really enjoying everything in the end :)

I REALLY love this concept. This book has been a really wonderful distraction from the stress of our country right now. I really hope that Katharine writes another story because it cannot end like this!

I am not the audience for this book.

I didn't connect with this one as much as everyone else seems to be connecting within. I think that it has to do with the fact that I'm not a huge fantasy person.

This was a really eye-opening book. There were parts of it that I enjoyed more than others. I'm reading it with my Equity book club and I'm really happy to have conversation around it!

Read this one for Oregon Battle of the Books committee. It was fine. I think that there is a lot here, I just had a hard time following. That doesn’t mean it’s not a great book though :)

3.5/5 stars.

I really enjoyed this book! I feel like a learned a lot as well. It’s super nice to read about Black characters in history falling in love. The only reason I did not rate this higher is because it felt like the last 30 pages of the story were extremely rushed. However I will be reading more by this author!

So absolutely adorable! Short and sweet with a lovely story. I’m super grateful to have come across it!

This book was just fine for me. I really enjoyed the story, but there was a lot of extra stuff that was put into the story that make some parts feel inauthentic. I loved the characters though and the things that they were working towards.

Pretty great book that could help kids take perspective on how the things they say affect other people. Also, I’m really happy to see about that highlights how prevalent fat phobia is in our society.
