Fantastic. Amazing characters, great pacing, I just couldn't leave the book until I was done. Love the ending. So glad it's not over and I have two more books in trilogy!
I was dancing between 4 and 5 stars the whole time, but in the end I just couldn't give it the same rating as Mr. Mercedes, it's not as good. Pacing is weird, it was so long before action really began and then everything came together with way too much lucky coincidences and intuitive thinking. Wasn't fan of showing up of supernatural elements with Brady, I liked Mr. Mercedes so much precisely because it was good old realistic thriller, but written in King's style.
DNF
I was listening to an audiobook before bed and it was just too complex for me to comprehend. These are the stories that should be read with care, and thought about after. Probably will try reading physhical book some time.

I'll be honest, it took me some time to accept Brady's return as a supernatural element. That was the aspect that bothered me the most, but since the entire book is based on it, I had to accept it. The development of Holly's character is fantastic, and she became one of my favorite characters. It's a 5-star read and not 4 just because of her.
This was so cute and fun listen, such a pleasant surprise. I absolutely enjoyed myself, it's not easy to write this kind of story without it becoming too cheesy, but Cara did it! I loved the main characters, Vera is amazing, and Kal is a dream. Loved how healing they were to each other and when they finally met, I literally squeaked! Looking forward to Cara's other stories.
It's interesting how much more I like these short stories than the main trilogy. Maybe because there's not so much love triangle and weird teenage romances. Also, it was fun to read from other characters' perspectives. Still, a lot of telling and not showing, and I find the author's ideas about virginity and old age a little bit cringey.
I'm not even sure what to think about this one. I feel like it tried to be too many things at the same time, and it ended up being nothing. The premise was great, but I feel like it didn't deliver. Changes of tone were not my cup of tea, and the whole thing dragged for too long. Like I kept waiting the whole time for something interesting to happen, and it never did. All the "plot twists" were painfully obvious. On the plus side, the narrator was amazing, and the story has a mature and realistic approach to mental health. It was ok debut.
Another brilliant work by Preston and Child. I loved how there were many different starting points with characters, and then it all came together in the most satisfying way. Love this series.
Unfortunately, this book did not meet my expectations. The characters are comical and one-dimensional, with actions and motivations that make no sense. The main character is the queen of avoiding responsibility for her own life, blaming her parents and husband for everything, despite being in her 40s, and, allegedly, successful. None of the characters behave in a way that's appropriate for their age or level of self-awarness. The male characters are so exaggeratedly villainous that it's almost laughable—nobody acts or talks like that.
The plot is filled with clichés and is very predictable, lacking any real motivation or depth. Overall, it was a disappointing read. While the narrator does a decent job, especially when the speed is increased, her portrayal of the male characters is poor, which only amplified their absurdity.

They are kind of cringey and the guy is a little douchey, but it was a great listen to let my brain rest. Looking forward to continue.
