Most of the story is an action scene between the bad guy and the hero. It's nice and quick read, and good introduction to detective Heck.

Tbh I was a little bit disappointed. The concept is interesting, I really liked different perspective of crime story where we get to meet victims, their families and learn how they cope after surviving. But there was just something about writing that I didn't like - it seemed like there were too many unnecessary characters and storylines that moved too fast. It just wasn't deep enough. And there were constant changes of narrators and POVs in the middle of scene which was just confusing. Also, Evan is supposed to be mentally younger, but he thinks like way more mature person than he is. All in all, a nice story with warm ending but I didn't care about any of the characters, they all seemed the same in the end.

I liked this one even more than the first one from the series about detective Heck, this was a reread. Great story, easy to follow action with an interesting ending. Got kind of lost in all of the cops that weren't necessary characters, but it didn't ruin my enjoyment.

I loved everything about this book - how it's written, message behind plot, characters... It's life changing for those who see and choose to practice. Let's dance!

This story was a fun combination of fantasy and spice. I would probably never read it, but audiobook made me a great company during cleaning and long walks. A little predictable and naive, but it served its purpose.

Cutesy and short romcom, quick listen perfect for walking while watching Christmas lights, would never take my time to read it. Predictable, but did its job. Story is simple, but kind of cringey - I don't like that she loved her friend's boyfriend for all that time and then they got together the second he broke up with her friend. Not that her friend is any better, all characters are not that great. All in all, would not recommend.

It started with A LOT of characters, and it was really hard for me to follow. Then I caught my tempo, enjoyed the book until a little bit more than middle. Then it lost me. Too much violence, too much lucky breaks for Heck, too much police. One moment I realized I'm just dreading reading this book. So I stopped. I've already read the next one from the series before, but this book concludes my interest for detective Heck.

Loved this one, it was very cute and heartwarming, like a Hallmark movie in a book. I enjoyed listening it during holidays. Also, it was cool that it's based around Hanukkah, not Christmas. It was interesting that it connected with the first story in a series, but it's also standalone. Writing is simple, and predictable, but that's exactly what I'm looking for in this kind of story.

Incredibly spooky and misterious, loved the way it was written. Who to believe, what really happened? The fact is - I don't know, and don't really care because narration itself brought me so much joy!

Great narrators, very pleasing. Story itself is a cute romance, pretty funny, borderline cringey. I like the message that it's never too late to have a privilege to love somebody, no matter how much we got hurt before. Ideal for listening during Christmas holidays.
