It’s interesting that this diverges fairly substantially from the anime. I figured it would be a blow by blow—and have the same weird issues around sex—but right away things diverge. The manga seems less sexualized and the overall larger plot beats are there, but they don’t follow the same arc and how they come about are quite different.

Annoyingly, reading it on comiXology it forces a two page spread reading left to right. I hope the later volumes don’t have this because trying to read that format on a tablet is really, really annoying.

The perspective meanders in a way that might bug some people, but I actually quite liked how the story is told. The connective tissue of her past in memories and what is currently happening jives with my own experiences. Sometimes things are explained with granular detail, sometimes they feel ephemeral and floaty. It’s interesting to see what “matters” to her or impacts her. The only weak point for me is that a more punctuated theme might have drawn the collection of thoughts together a bit better.
