Happy World Kindness Day.
In honor of this day I found this book at Target. I love how muted and simple the illustrations yet they’re absolutely beautiful in every way which matches Fred Rogers’ esthetic perfectly.

I just finished this book 30 seconds ago and it is hands down my favorite book of the year.
The Bromance Book Club tells the story of the recently separate Gavin and Thea. In Gavin's valiant attempts to win Thea back he joins a Romance Reading all male book club where they use things that they learn from romance books and apply them to their own relationship problems.
I liked this book because I initially kind of thought the characters were going to be unrelateable. I thought we were going to have a douchey pro baseball player and a debutante wife. Oh no. While Gavin is gorgeous he is also deeply flawed emotionally from a speech impediment. Thea is also beautiful, but flawed in her own ways that get unpacked throughout the story.
Also if Mack and Liv don't get a book in the Bromance book club I will be seriously disappointed.

The Cardboard Kingdom
Molly Muldoon, Michael Cole, Manuel Betancourt, Chad Sell, Kris Moore, Barbara Perez Marquez, Jay Fuller, David DeMeo, Cloud Jacobs, Katie Schenkel, Vid Alliger
I got this book for $2 at the Scholastic Book fair this past fall. It is worth so much more than $2!
The Cardboard Kingdom follows the stories of 16 different kids during the summer. All the kids live in the same neighborhood and end up creating a big, elaborate game throughout the summer. In the game each kid is a different character- most are super hero, knight types of characters. All the props and outfits are made out of old cardboard scraps the kids come across. I really love how the illustrations show how to outsiders it just looks like homemade things, but to the kids they are living a full color adventure. I also really love how each character has a different backstory and tough topics are addressed in fun, easy ways.
At the end of the day this book is a beautiful story about being yourself
