What a fun and imaginative story! 5 stars and full review to come
For starters: I cannot believe this is a debut novel from Laurel Hightower! The storyline, her knack for getting under your skin, her ability to write believable characters, etc make it seem like she has been doing this for quite some time.
Rose McFarland can be described as a gutsy woman who takes no crap. She is a sniper for S.W.A.T. and her fiery past is definitely one for the books. But as the story progresses, her past and present reunite in the best and worst ways. All of these things make this book perfect for fans of thrillers and horror - there's a bit of both in this one! There are some genuinely creepy scenes in this that had me wondering just how it would play out on the big screen - yes, I do that sometimes with certain books when I am completely pulled in. I want to experience it with all my senses. And this book demands all of my senses! A solid 5-star read and I cannot wait for Hightower's next endeavor!
Thank you to the author, Laurel Hightower and JournalStone publishing for the review copies to our Night Worms Book Party.

5 stars to Volume 1! I will be writing a comprehensive review of the entire series to be posted with Vol. 6.
Chad Lutzke has done it again! He just knows how to write amazingly heartbreaking books! With The Pale White, he is able to take a highly sensitive topic like sex trafficking and builds this story of survival, hope, and love. It can be hard to put into words just how great of a storyteller Lutzke is because you are always just left in awe. I highly recommend this story (as I do all the stories of his that I have read). 5 stars!
I received this book as part of a Night Worms subscription package. I may have never come across it any other way, which is bad because I think of all the other readers out there who may be missing out on this due to lack of knowledge. This book IS SO GOOD! I think all horror fans will devour this one. This book has family secrets, murder, twists, gore, etc. The book read like how it feels to sit next to a fire in a cabin during a thunderstorm with no electricity. My senses were on high alert the entire time and I felt like I could hear the floorboards creaking. This book got under my skin (ESPECIALLY THAT SCENE!!) and I can't stop thinking about it. 5 stars!
I am always going to read anything and everything slasher related and final girl related. It's just my thing! So when I saw Stephen Graham Jones had put something together I knew I had to have it.
SGJ writes this book as if you are watching a movie. The book tells you when the scene changes, it tells you when the camera changes focus, etc. It does it in a way that is unique but does take some time to get used to. It's like we are watching what we are reading - I promise that will make a lot more sense once you open this one and check it out for yourself! This format and execution did not work for me as a whole, but I know that others have found it worked for them quite well.
I really enjoyed the characters and the premise of this book. A group of final girls? One to rule them all!? Yes! This book is filled with witty banter and sassy comebacks... and it throws in a lot of horror tropes and pop culture references as well that many will enjoy being able to say, "Yep! I know what that's referring to!"
3.5 rounded up for Goodreads!

This was a pretty lighthearted book that I finished in one sitting. Ellie Kemper is such a fun, optimistic person and those qualities are brought to the front in this memoir. Like her characters on The Office or Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Kemper has this innocent humor that you can't help but fall in love with! Fans of hers will enjoy this one!
