I read this book almost in one sitting, as it is quite small, it's actually a short crime story and I was very intrigued by the premise of the book. Before I get into more details, I think I need to talk a bit about my rating.
I gave this book 2 stars because I was very disappointed regarding the length of the book, as the story was truly interesting and exciting. I felt like I watched a trailer of a movie I really wanted to see and then they told me the movie won't come out ever! I loved the story, loved the killer's motives and I would have read a 400 page book from her POV, from the time she decided she would start the killings to her last murder. I think this book really had potential, it just felt a bit too rushed being only 24 pages long.
Going in more details, in this book we have a killer who kills authors with specific initials, because there's some backstory there (that I would have loved for it to be explored more). The reason behind those murders is the grammatical mistakes of the authors in their books and as she said that, I felt a bit of sympathy, because every reader has encountered at least one badly written book in their lives! Thankfully, no one turned to murder though!
I loved the plot twist towards the end, and the whole talk show session, I just feel like I needed more. I needed more from the story to understand the characters, I needed more descriptions of the murders to make me feel afraid of our main girl, I just needed more.

After I finished reading this book I was left with a feeling of how much better it could be.
I felt that there was so much potential that wasn't even explored, Sam and Penny's relationship was thankfully quite well written and pretty mature, but other than that, I needed more. I needed more exploration of Penny's relationship with her mom, I needed more backstory for Jude (which is a character I loved), I needed more info about Penny's writing assignment, I needed more about Sam's documentary, I just needed more.
Because it felt that this book wasn't a relationship heavy one, there were so much going on around Sam and Penny's relationship and I felt robbed when we abandoned all that for a quick conclusion regarding Sam and Penny.
Why give us all this interesting information, why try and shape your characters so much and then abandon them just to write an ending that would better fit a sloppily written romance book?

This book was short and to the point, it felt more like a collection of quotes than poems but nevertheless it was quite enjoyable.
I found myself reading one or two quoted every day, to get some inspiration and then have the time to think about them, I didn't want to read the whole book in one sitting because then I wouldn't appreciate all the quotes and I think that's not the way you are supposed to read a poetry/quotes collection.
All in all, I don't have much to say, because the book is so short, but I liked reading it, I found quite a lot of inspiration in it's passages and I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

There were many things i didnt like about this book, but let me narrow it down to two: 1) Jude and 2) the utter lack of world building!
Jude was a character with no clear motives, her personality was not distinguishable, I couldn't understand why she was doing everything she was doing, her thoughts were muddled and she would often contradict jer own self. In short, she felt like a chess piece that was moving in ways that helped the author tell the story, she wasn't an original and authentic character.
As for the world building, there was NONE! How can you write a fantasy novel without world building??? There were so many creatures other than Fae casually thrown in our faces with no backstory or explanation. Also, the setting was so medieval, the castle and knights and all that stuff, that the book felt like a spiced up medieval novel.
Last thought about the romance: NO! Also, it came out of FUCKING NOWHERE, suddenly Jude and Cardan were kissing and i was like: "hold your horses buddy!!" I seriously need someone to come and explain to me and show me passages out of the book were the romance between Cardan and Jude was even hinted at! Because I found one meager attempt only!
Let's talk about the plot twist at the end... I didn't like it at all! Like Jude is such a martyr, always like: "oh I'm doing this for others or for the common good", "love me because I'm so sad and I HAVE to sacrifice my own happiness"... Like come on... No one believes you sweety.
Also, the whole plot with Locke and Jude and Taryn?? I need someone to convince me that it was necessary because it wasn't. Taryn must be soooo clever (😂😂😂) to want a boy that's be kissing frolicking around with her sister. Talk about self worth!
This book brought me such relief when I finished it. I'm not even touching the second book, I'm not putting myself through this again.

Δηλώνω κατενθουσιασμένη με τον κόσμο που έχει δημιουργήσει η Τζέσικα Τάουνσεντ και ανυπομονώ να πάρω στα χέρια μου και το δεύτερο βιβλίο της σειράς! Πραγματικά ο κόσμος που έχει δημιουργήσει είναι αντάξιος του Χάρυ Πότερ, αν και εγώ πιστεύω πως είναι πολύ ξεχωριστός και δεν θα έπρεπε να υπάρχει σύγκριση! Θα ήθελα πολύ να μπορούσα να ταξιδέψω στη Νέβερμορ, έχει τόσα πράγματα που θα ήθελα να κάνω εκεί και φυσικά δεν θα έμενα πουθενά αλλού, πέρα απ' το ξενοδοχείο "Δευκαλίων"!
Η συγγραφέας έχει δημιουργήσει με πολύ προσοχή και περισσή εξυπνάδα μια creepy ιστορία για παιδιά, με πολλά αστεία, σασπένς και δράση που σε κρατάει σε αγωνία συνεχώς! Οι δοκιμασίες που έπρεπε να περάσει η Μοριγκαν ήταν πολύ ενδιαφέρουσες και ανυπομονούσα να δω τι θα σκαρφιστεί κάθε φορά ώστε να κερδίσει! Περιττό να πω, πως μέχρι να αποκαλυφθεί το ταλέντο της, κυριολεκτικά κατάπινα τις σελίδες γιατί με είχε φάει η περιέργεια!
Όσον αφορά τους χαρακτήρες, έχω 3 αγαπημένους, αλλά ήταν δύσκολο πολύ να διαλέξω, καθώς όλοι τους ήταν πολύ όμορφα γραμμένοι και μου άρεσε που ήταν όλοι ξεχωριστοί και είχαν προσωπικότητες, δεν ήταν απλά χαρακτήρες που εξυπηρετούσαν το σκοπό της πλοκής και η χρησιμότητα τους τελείωνε εκεί.
Πρώτη πρώτη λοιπον νομίζω αξίζει να αναφέρω τη Μοριγκαν! Ήταν πραγματικά απ' τους πιο συμπαθητικούς χαρακτήρες, πολύ έξυπνη και στην αρχή την λυπήθηκα με τον τρόπο που της φερόταν η ίδια της η οικογένεια! Είναι αχτύπητο δίδυμο με τον Χόθορν και ανυπομονώ για τις επόμενες περιπέτειες τους!
Ο Τζούπιτερ με κέρδισε απ' την αρχή με την ανεμελιά και τις έξυπνες ατάκες του, αν και ομολογώ όσο περνούσαν τα κεφάλαια και δεν αποκάλυπτε πληροφορίες στη Μοριγκαν (άρα και κατ' επέκταση και στους αναγνώστες) με είχε σκάσει λίγο όλη αυτή η μυστικοπάθεια, αλλά άξιζε σίγουρα στο τέλος! Μου άρεσε πολύ το δέσιμο του με τη Μοριγκαν και νομίζω πως αυτοί οι δύο αλληλοσυμπληρώνονται σχεδόν σε τέλειο βαθμό!
Τέλος, μια μικρή αναφορά αξίζει στην Φεν, την τεράστια γκρινιάρα γατα, που νιώθω πως είναι το spirit animal μου! Είναι υπέροχη και εύχομαι να έχει έντονη παρουσία και στα επόμενα βιβλία!
Κλείνοντας, πιστεύω πως αυτό το βιβλίο είναι ιδανικό για παιδιά (αλλά και για μεγάλους) γιατί έχει μια τόσο ενδιαφέρουσα ιστορία που θα ικανοποιήσει ακόμα και τον πιο απαιτητικό αναγνώστη! Κάντε χώρο στην βιβλιοθήκη σας γιατί τα βιβλία της σειράς έρχονται για να μείνουν!

"Η Εξόριστη Θεά" μου χάρισε ένα ολόκληρο ταξίδι παρέα με τον Αρές σε αναζήτηση της Ανάννυας. Μπορώ να πω πως ήταν ένα βιβλίο που με τράβηξε από την αρχή, δεν ένιωσα ότι ήθελα να το αφήσω στην άκρη και ακόμα από τα πρώτα κεφάλαια ήθελα να μάθω ποια θα ήταν η τύχη των πρωταγωνιστών μας.
Ένα από τα αγαπημένα μου στοιχεία του βιβλίου ήταν πως δόθηκε άπλετος χρόνος μέχρι να ολοκληρωθεί η ιστορία. Πολλές φορές συγγραφείς έχουν την τάση να κινούν πολύ γρήγορα την ιστορία, σε σημείο που δεν προλαβαίνει ο αναγνώστης να συνειδητοποιήσει τι συμβαίνει. Ευτυχώς, αυτό έλειπε από το συγκεκριμένο βιβλίο, η ιστορία κυλούσε πολύ οργανικά και καμιά εξέλιξη δεν μου ξένισε, καθώς μπορούσα να δω την πρόοδο του Αρές στην αναζήτηση του να συμβαίνει με "ρεαλιστικό" τρόπο, παρόλο που μιλάμε για ένα βιβλίο φαντασίας.
Κάτι ακόμα που επίσης μου άρεσε είναι η ατμόσφαιρα του βιβλίου. Είναι τόσο έντονη η αίσθηση ότι βρίσκεσαι στη Μεσοποταμία, σε ένα από τα καραβάνια που περιδιαβαίνουν τις πόλεις, κάτι το οποίο εκτιμώ ιδιαιτέρως, γιατί (για εμένα τουλάχιστον) ο κόσμος που χτίζει ο συγγραφέας για την ιστορία του είναι εξίσου σημαντικός με το πώς δομεί τους χαρακτήρες.
Ένα στοιχείο που δεν μου άρεσε τόσο, ήταν το επαναλαμβανόμενο μοτίβο με το οποίο έπαιρνε ο Αρές το κάθε στοιχείο. Προσωπικά δεν είμαι μεγάλη φαν των διηγήσεων μιας ιστορίας μέσα στην ίδια την ιστορία, οπότε κάθε φορά που ένας χαρακτήρας διηγούνταν στον Αρές την ιστορία που είχε ακούσει για την θεά, εγώ ευχόμουν αυτή η διήγηση να γινόταν σε μορφή flashback, ώστε να βλέπαμε και την οπτική της θεάς.
Κλείνοντας, έχω να πω πως η "Εξόριστη Θεά" είναι ένα πολύ ενδιαφέρον βιβλίο, έχει στιγμές που είναι γεμάτες από σασπενς και αγωνία και το τέλος για εμένα ήταν πολύ ικανοποιητικό και ακριβώς αυτό που ευχόμουν να συμβεί!

If you know me, then you know I love retellings or any kind of book that takes inspiration from old fairy tales! So when the opportunity arose to read this book, I gladly took it and I was extremely excited to read it! Now, as you can see, I have given it a low rating, but I'll talk about that in a moment.
I really liked Calla's character, she was portrayed quite well, which I know is a very difficult thing to do when writing about teenagers. What I liked most, was her realtionship with her adoptive parents, because I have noticed that very rarely there are good parent-kids relationships in this kind ogf books. It wa srefreshing to read about a family that loved and respect each other as much as Calla's family did.
Another thing I liked a lot, was the wide variety of characters and different personalities that were there, I really enjoyed reading about all of Calla's siblings and their relationships with each other and whole close knit they were! It really made me feel warm inside seeing them playing and interacting and then trying to save each other. Also something you don't see often in books and I have to say that I loved the siblings' relationship!
Now coming to why I gave this book such a low rating. What made me almost stop reading the book altogether was Calla and Will's relationship. It didn't come naturally at all, Calla realised her feelings over a plane ride and when the next day she found out that she was his wife in the past, she took in stride and went to him, saying how much she loved him, and I was like: "WHAAAAAT?" Also, what really made me angry was the poor excuse regarding Will's horrid behavior! He was treating Calla horribly apart from a few apologies here and there and every time he did something bad, he apologised to her and then the next time, he did something even worse and then apologised again and so on! That's a toxic relationship and they were fighting so much that it didn't leave time for us to envision them as a couple that was so much in love! It really threw me off and made me not enjoy the book after that part.
