I was so excited to finally read this book and it just let me down. The concept is amazing and so cool but I spent the majority of the book confused and bored. I was so much more interested in the present rather than the story of the past. Also, did anyone else notice how many characters' names started with K? I genuinely have no clue who some of the K characters are...
I wish there had been an in-depth glossary similar to the setup of The Priory of the Orange Tree (this happens to be the book I've most recently been reading with these features but I am not actually comparing the context or authors or these books to clarify, just the glossary/persons of the tale sections)

I was trying so hard to read this but it's so annoying trying to read Gideon's words and thoughts.

I enjoyed the book overall but I loved the beginning of the series much more. I think my issue lies mainly with Sarah’s writing. I read the whole first part of the series and then read a bunch of other books and authors so coming back to Sarah’s writing just was a reminder of her over use of “females”, “males”, “mate”, and “—“.
