It's a good well written book, however it's not a very satisfying ending to the series. The series as a whole feels like more of a serial than a series, each with its own big bad to defeat rather than an overarching plot.
The characters are interesting, however alot of the relationships seem a bit shallow and I wish they had been explored further.
There were some pacing issues in places it's very fast in others it drags a bit.
The ending seemed quite rushed.
However despite my criticism, I did enjoy the book, and the series and I would recommend giving it a shot.

It's a very cute and short graphic novel, it's very fluffy with great LGBT+ representation. There is no tension in the story it is very fluffy and just a great palate cleanser between more serious books, or in my case a very cute and hopeful way to start my first book of the year.

If you want a book that is going to emotionally wreck you over and over again and leave you thanking it for making you sob, then read this book.
But also do read the book it incredibly well written and overall a beautiful story.

absolutely brilliant book. really amazing mixing of cultures and the myths of the Arthurian legends in a really fresh way that actually acknowledges some of the problematic nature of history especially that of a white colonial history. But also celebrates the magic of secret societies and the original legends. I would 300% recommend this book. It has been on my TBR for as while and I am so glad I read it.

The book reminds me of First Task by Tamora Pierce. It has the feeling of a training arc, which I do enjoy. by the end of the book I was interested and invested in the characters and their relationships. However, it was not enough to derail my tbr list to make me read the second book.
I felt as though I did not know enough about the overall consequences of the series to be fully invested in what they were training for, there were hints to a bigger world problem but I think I would have seen more of it if I read the next book. I may come back later and give this series another try, it just wasn't as impactful as some of the other books I'm currently reading.

I didn't expect where the story would go, over all it was very interesting and I have recommended it to my friends. However, some of it felt like more of a thought experiment or a study of relationships rather than a linear plot. It was as if the plot was there simply as a vehicle to analyse that characters rather than the characters there to drive the plot, this was not a bad thing, just different from what I would usually choose to read.
