This book destroyed me but like in the best way 🥺😭🥰 I read it over a week ago and I am still not over it to be honest.
It had been sitting on my TBR for a while and I’m so glad I finally read it!
What I absolutely loved about this book was first of all the gay/bi romance rep 🙌🏼
Secondly was that all the characters were so amazing. I loved all but the ones you’re meant to dislike and I disliked them too so job well done.
The romance in this book is SOUL WRENCHING because it is so epic and sweet and gorgeous. There were chapters where I thought my heart was being pulled out and others where I had genuine butterflies in my stomach the entire time.
It’s a steamy read but not explicit so that was a plus for me but I honestly think this is one book I also would have not minded fade to black scenes because the writing is so spectacular.
And then those last 100 pages 😱 I stressed, I held my breath, I laughed, I cried (LITERALLY TEARS STREAMING DOWN MY FACE) I’ve never been so invested in an election result (if you know you know).
I honestly do not have faults with this book and I cannot wait to reread it some day💖💖💖

This was such a surprisingly good read! It features Flora, a 17yo with bipolar II disorder who has withdrawn from life and suffers a constant battle in her brain to work out if her reactions are another episode coming on or just her reacting to situations. So when a guest at the hotel she works at, Hal, requires her help in doing a local history project about a soldier from World War 1, she’s very hesitant to say the least.
But what transpires is a really lovely story, learning about this soldier and his life - involving a secret love affair - and Flora learning some things about herself too.

I expected a romance with a few skeleton in the closet life issues but this book became so much more then that. I think the rep of bipolar II disorder was so importent to read about - not one I’ve read before. The constant battle that Flora was having inside her mind, with herself felt exhausting just to read about, let alone suffer through, and it invoked so much respect from me.
The romance that features in this books is really sweet and free from a really lovely friendship and bond over learning about this secret past of the ww1 soldier. I also liked that the romance didn’t miraculously solve all of Flora’s problems but instead gave her the option to work through things and put the skills she learnt in her therapy in practice to create her own happy ending both for her head and heart.
I loved learning the story of the ww1 soldier and by the end I was so invested in how his story would end.
The story even made me shed a few happy tears by the end.
Only reason it wasn’t a 5 star is because I can’t see myself ever rereading it.

I read the script along to a Globe production and it was really enjoyable. There’s a lot of funny scenes and some romance too. Having the modern day translation along side it really helped and made it more enjoyable!

Kind of didn’t know what was going on most of the time but weirdly still enjoyed it.
Understood the start: a classical prideful man feels embarrassed by his daughter and so punished her.
Middle part got a bit lost on me but the King going mad shone throughout quite clearly.
The end was again more understood like the beginning, compared to the middle part.
Would definitely like to read it through again, maybe with a modern translation, to better understand the whole thing.
Listened to it with a full cast audiobook which I think definitely helps

I absolutely loved this book! I don’t read many adult thrillers as most of the ones I read are YA but this book definitely makes me want to try some more.
I know it’s already a pretty hyped book but I honestly ignored it all and just say down to read & I was happily not disappointed.
The layout of this book is so clever, not finding out who has died until the last 100 pages and by then you suspect just about every guest at the wedding so it’s really interesting trying  to figure out who dun it in a race against time to the end of the book.
The slow reveal of each guests secrets had me so hooked and I loved that this was multiple POV whilst still being really clear who was who.
The ending had me totally surprised, I really didn’t see it coming and the way that the stories all combined to give each guest a motive was great!
Definitely recommend this book

I received this ARC in exchange for a review. Please check out the trigger warnings at the bottom of this review before reading the book.
I really enjoyed this book! It hooked me a lot quicker then I thought it would, so much so that I read it pretty much in one sitting. The only part I didn’t want to read was the end because I knew it’d break me...and I did, but in a good way.
The plot twist at the end whilst some people maybe saw coming, I did not. I thought the way the other left it right until the end, instead of including it in the characters POV throughout was really cover and made it more impactful.
I loved the characters and the romance. Vlad, the male character, especially to me was really great. I loved how he showed his vulnerability to Dahlia, the female lead.
The one con for me was that some bits felt quite repetitive, mainly what was said rather than actions.
I am super excited to read the next book!

Super tiny world book day fast read book of 124 pgs filled with classic pippa fits-amobi logic.
The main reason this got 5 stars was because once again Holly Jackson shows her incredible intelligence in providing a murder case with a solution that you not only don’t see coming, it also makes sense!

Was great seeing where Pippa got her idea to make her EPQ project from and also that little Easter egg at the end *chefs kiss*

My first Kathy Reichs/Temperance Brennan book and I was so excited to read this! It didn’t disappoint!

A dismembered, nearly fully skeletanised set of remains is found and the pathologist can’t work on them due to the lack of remaining tissue. Call in Dr Brennan, Forensic Anthropologist. What started off as a routine check turned into a serial killer investigation which Dr Brennan races to figure out before she and her most loved ones become the next victims.

Pros:
-The forensic anthropology and anatomy, as well as the police procedure in this are actually quite accurate (even if slightly dramatised) which for someone with a forensic anthropologist degree (hi, that’s me) is really great to see.
-I like the characters we’ve been introduced to so far. Dr Brennan is headstrong and passionate and I’m intrigued to see how some characters story lines play out
-the plot twists in the book were good and I like that you don’t find out who the killer is until the detectives/Brennan actually work it out themselves. It all made sense too, there wasn’t any random ignored facts to make a suspect fit the role fine.

Cons:
-there is a lot of description/naming of buildings and streets. Whilst this may be just something that occurs because this is the first in a series and the author is trying to set the scene, for someone who has never been to Quebec it just felt completely unnecessary, didn’t add to the story, didn’t aid in the imagining of the scene and was just distracting
-same thing kind of applies to one particular scene where dr Brennan is investigating tool marks left on bone. As someone who has some knowledge into the topic even I was completely lost and it was just 4/5 pages of me just reading words. Felt completely out of the story and didn’t add to it at all - especially as it was summarised by an expert in layman terms a few pages later
-whilst I was expecting dr Brennan to go off on her own and be quite headstrong (as I’ve seen the entirety of the bones tv show) I did feel in the book she was really reckless and not just with her safety which bothered me more.

Super excited to read the rest of the series
