Vicious was one of the first books I started in May and I devoured it! The non-linear narrative structure and the complexity of the characters combined with the major plot points that kept me guessing made this an awesome book club pick.
I enjoyed the main characters and it had me questioning who the real villain was throughout the story. I appreciated how much the characters grew and the speculative idea around EOs.
I will definitely be continuing with the next book in the trilogy.

After falling in love with the characters from Bloodwing Academy, I knew I needed to take up the prequel series by Briar Boleyn and she didn’t disappoint!
Queen of Roses is an epic fantasy adventure with plot twists, a mysterious guard, a deadly quest, forbidden and forgotten magic, and an FMC who gets more badass as the story progresses.
Told in first person from Morgan’s POV, the book delves into what it’s really like to be Arthur’s half-fae half-sister in a world where being fae could cost you your life and where Arthur is a ruthless king who is quick to violence and extreme in his decisions for his country.
Kairos Draven is the mysterious “farm boy” turned king’s guard who is tasked with protecting and travelling with Morgan to retrieve a piece of treasure from the desolate Faelands but he’s definitely keeping a secret from everyone.
Briar Boleyn also includes an adorable (albeit deadly) battle cat that latches onto the mysterious Draven and I’m really hoping it’s going to have more appearances in the future.

I absolutely devoured this book! The premise of the world that Emily Blackwood weaves into this story is fascinating: with a war being waged, a ministry in control, and gifted humans called mystics who have different powers and different strengths of those powers.
Sinner and Athena are a wonderful duo to follow through this book. The similarities between the two main characters on top of the dungeon they are confined to makes their banter and frustrations with each other something that, as a reader, keeps you hooked into the story.
There’s also the quirky girl, Margaret, who befriends Athena upon her arrival in the dungeon. Margaret is the perfectly, awkward bestie that Athena needs to survive.
Overall, the book is fast paced, thought provoking, and just a little bit spicy 🌶️. The book ends on a massive cliffhanger ending that left me stunned that there were no more pages left in the book. I will absolutely be picking up book 2 when it comes out.
Thank you to Emily Blackwood for the opportunity to read and review this book in advance of its official release.

What a read! The political intrigue, the yearning, the deceit, the lies and everything in between made this book everything I needed.
Lessia’s strength in battling her own demons while going through an election process which is extremely intense shows her resilience and willingness to improve. She has an absolute heart of gold that even when everything starts falling apart, she is able to search for something good.
Loche is also an excellent MMC edition alongside Merrick and I don’t know which mysterious male I love more because they’re both amazing in their own way.
I will definitely be continuing this series because the emotional damage and cliffhanger ending leads so much to know about this series.
