I absolutely devoured this book! The premise of the world that Emily Blackwood weaves into this story is fascinating: with a war being waged, a ministry in control, and gifted humans called mystics who have different powers and different strengths of those powers.

Sinner and Athena are a wonderful duo to follow through this book. The similarities between the two main characters on top of the dungeon they are confined to makes their banter and frustrations with each other something that, as a reader, keeps you hooked into the story.

There’s also the quirky girl, Margaret, who befriends Athena upon her arrival in the dungeon. Margaret is the perfectly, awkward bestie that Athena needs to survive.

Overall, the book is fast paced, thought provoking, and just a little bit spicy 🌶️. The book ends on a massive cliffhanger ending that left me stunned that there were no more pages left in the book. I will absolutely be picking up book 2 when it comes out.

Thank you to Emily Blackwood for the opportunity to read and review this book in advance of its official release.
