This book was a lot of fun to read! The characters and banter were excellent and the plot kept me intrigued the entire time. Some of the intended “twists” were obvious but not all of them, which made for a pleasant read.

I really enjoyed the relationship between Scarlett and Cassius. I also sympathized with Scarlett’s choices of family over freedom which was a key theme through the entire book.

Spice level: 4.5 🌶️

Overall, I was intrigued by this book. Two morally grey male vampires and a “weak” FMC who gives her life over to become a vampire thrall. I wasn’t sure where the plot was going for the first little bit and whenever I thought I figured it out, more chaos was thrown our way.

It’s a medium paced, fast to spice slow to love MMF story with a lot of explicit scenes that sometimes go on for multiple chapters. I was under the impression that it was going to be a high fantasy story with dark romance aspects but it felt too heavy on the adult hug interactions and not enough on what the plot was doing.

The MMCs were an interesting characters but their “quick trust” that was just as easily broken and lack of trust completely ignored just as quickly which led me to a lot of eye rolling. I wish that there had been more plot development overall.

What a stunning second book to this series! I did not see the plot twist at the end coming and I'm devastated by it. I will be reading the next one in the series but I'm also nervous about what's going to happen next.

This book was very well paced and the multiple POV kept things interesting as I was trying to figure out what was going to happen next. The interactions between Jake and Jo were very satisfying and I liked their dynamic as a detective team.

I did find the ending was more anti-climactic than I would have liked but seeing as this is a 6 book series, it makes some sense. It felt like the book finished very abruptly and I am interested to find out who The Hangman is.

This book gives similar vibes to the Mindf*ck series as it seems like the Hangman is going after corruption in a small town.

Not my favourite book. Though it is listed as fantasy, I found it felt more like a historical fiction book. Full of political intrigue and backstabbing, the main characters attempt to embrace their lot in life while trying to get ahead.

Overall, I found it progressed too slowly and was confused about what the actual plot was. I found it to be very high fantasy with very little fantasy element, more like a historical fiction book. By about 50% I was over Gormflaith and dreaded her chapters. I felt like Fódla was the only character who had depth and I enjoyed her.

I will not be continuing this series.

What a way to end a trilogy! CN Crawford and Alex Rivers did it again bringing Nia’s story to conclusion.

Similar to the first two books, there is rarely a dull moment in Brocélaide or at Avalon Tower. With where Vale of Dreams left off and how much Talan and Nia grow in this book before it comes to a wonderful conclusion, the entire Fey Spy Academy trilogy is worth picking up.

I loved how much Nia stepped into her power in this book and how she embraced the lies she’s been telling to gain Talan’s trust while seeing that there is usually more to someone’s story than what people are saying or believe.
