Reading this book was like trying to read a rock in the dark with your eyes close. I was opaque! Hard read. Maybe I'm just too dumb. I've read the Tao Te Ching, two times, currently doing my third, all different translation, and my fourth is coming by mail, so I thought I would like the I Ching, but it was less philosophical, it it, but less, and it had a lot more of divination, myth, even a fable style to it and the way the translator present it, with the symbol and their meaning, for someone who has not basis at all in the language, it was hard and complicated. The book has gone back from millennia to reach us so it probably have some sense, but too far fetch and too deep for me. I respect the text, but I didn't like it or find anything for me in it!
This is the gun's kid in me getting a Christmas present with this book. I'm not a pro-gun in term of ownership and stuff, but I always have a fascination with them, lot less now but as a kids I was almost obsess with them, thanks to the action movie of the 90s. Lot of guns in this book, a picture for every one of them, categorize by weapons types, fabrication country and gun names, kind of a three levels alphabetical order. Not a lot of details on everyone of them, but just enough for the casual fans. I enjoy it, cool coffee table as far as I'm concern. Like it!
3,5/5. I really enjoy the first two third of it, but then the story seem to slow don a bit too much. I love the art, very interesting characters and a fun story even if a bit slow and not very original. I enjoy it, but not enough to get going with the series...
Third read of the Tao. Three different version, three different translation, the fourth coming in the mail. I'm a bit obsesses with it. So simple, but at the same time so much depth and insight about life. I loved it, it makes me grow as a person. This one was in the middle in term of "easy-to-get-into". Seriously if you're looking for something more in your life, some real, lowering materialism, enjoy little thing and stuff like that, just read the Tao, it will changes a lot of things!
Is it the whiskey? It is the hour? It's 12:30 on Monday night, well actually not Monday anymore and I'm slightly, mildly drunk, but anyway this book was funny. A bit to girly orientated on some joke so I can't related as a man, but I enjoy it. The art is casual web comic works, but the joke are fun and I laugh, was it anything more important? I don't think so!
Awesome book for kid, but adult can benefit from it too. It present quotes and inspiration/moral stories from great mind of the world (Confucius, Roosevelt, Marie Curie, and many others) in the form of small cartoons (stories are about 2-3 pages). It made it easy to understand without making them sound stupid or «childish». Great, original and very well done. I think it could be useful in class, even with very young kid. You read one story with them and then discuss about it to make them think of the implication of it all.
Reread that one and I drop my rating from 5 to 4 stars. It was okay, but it felt like I was a bit too enthusiastic about it the first time. I like the concept of bringing good, positive, philosophical thought in a easy format so it became easier for children or adult who read less for whatever reason, to have access to it and some were very good, but some felt a bit too light, more like cute advice than true knowledge or wisdom.

Whoah!! This was spectacular! I had high expectation for it and it surpassed them! There was some dryer part in the middle but overall such a good book, better written than I would have thought and even quite an emotional ending which was surprising but really satisfying. The book take a lot of subject but handle them all very well. I like the science in it obviously, I even learn some stuff, and it age relatively well in the science department in some ways, a bit less in others, but having been written 35 years ago, astronomy and physics have evolve quite a bit since then. I also enjoy the social observation, the guessing on the future, which is now our reality, the vision of what a first contact and alien life could be. I didn't expect it to go this far in the "contact" part and that was a good surprise. So, I'm impress, very happy to have read it, it might not be for everybody, but I think that this is a must read for science-fiction fan. I sure did enjoy it a lot!!
That was awesome even if I already knew much of it for watching the TV show last year. Different from the Hercule Poirot series, maybe it had to do with me reading her in English for the first time, I was reading her in French previously, but I find it really fast pace, really fluid, closer to a thriller than an actual mystery! The schemes and imagination in the killing is unique to Agatha Christie and even more when you consider the publication date. I loved it and would recommend it, even if you're not a Agatha Christie reader, this might be a good one to "try" her.
