I love Joe Pickett novels, this is my second read, I started randomly and now going back to start it in the «right» order. We learn a little about nature and wild animals which is fun and we get an entertaining action novel. The character of Joe is also well developed, not too clichés, original in some way and with enough personality to make you want to pass some time with him or reading is adventure. Not the deepest novel, but nothing cheesy either, a simple, well done and fun read with just enough substance to make it worth it in my opinion. I will continue to read a couple of them and then I will see where it goes, but so far, I enjoy this series!

Another of those classical Big Nate comic. You know the style. Short silly one page cartoon comic, with a «narrative» that can stretch for some pages, sometimes quite a while actually. Funny, entertaining and just a fun read for kids. I’m more of a Calvin reader, but this one I think is the equivalent for a younger generation. Well done!

There isn't a lot of think I hate in comic book more than a cover that didn't reflect the actual art inside. The art on the cover is stunning, the art inside isn't, way more sketchy and looking «older» than the polish and very modern cover art. That being said, the story was a bit mehhh, easy, not really original and I never connect with the character. the review so far seem good, so maybe I'm the problem but I didn't like it!

A graphic memoirs, not something we often see. I enjoy , well enjoy might be the wrong worth, I like it way more than I thought I would. The author talk about a specific part of her life, something that a lot of us will live through, the time when our parents become older, fragile, senile and die. I'm still a bit young for living through that, but my father is 66 and having a serious lungs condition in time of Covid, make his life highly risky, so I have thought about his death and that particular topic.

This book mixed a lot of thing to perfection, very emotional moments with lighter ones, funny humor with tragic events, some pages more cartoonist classic strips, others almost full of texts. All of it contribute to deliver a strong book, very personal, but also kind of general since old age being old age, it is always, more or less, the same.

This a book that everyone should read in their life time, maybe not anywhere in their life, but it will have a time and a place, somewhere, sometime, in everyone life where this book will be helpful.

Awesome! This was a perfect balance between fun school parts, heros in action and story evolution. I really enjoy this one! Now just have to wait until the next one go out!

That was an amazing book! Even more amazing if we consider the fact that it was the author first published book. Highly ambitious pieces of epic fantasy. At first the many tropes reminding me of LOTR, especially The Fellowship, had me worried a bit, but then it finds its true style, its personal narrative and I enjoy every word of it. There is a bunch of characters, but the author did a great job introducing them, letting some time to know some of them before bringing others in. The world is also great. Strong background and a very interesting mythology behind it. The quest brings us battles, great and rich magic (time control/travel magic, power magic, memory sighting magic, control magic, etc.), strong intrigues and also a fair share of mysteries that still haunt us in the end and so might get some development further in the series. It was a series I was holding on for a long time. Having such expectation for it that I was scare to start it and being disappointed. It wasn’t the case. It meets every expectation I had and even surpass some of them. Even the writing which have very little problems here and there in the first third of it, improve as the book goes on and, again considering this is the first book of James Islington, it will surely continue to improve as the series move forward. I honestly haven’t anything negative to say about it, except maybe that it goes a bit too fast. It is a thick book, but a lot happen in it and the author could have taken a bit more time in some even to go a bit deeper in some part of it. That wasn’t necessary, but it would have been fun. Those who think fantasy is often too slow or too descriptive won’t be able to say that about this one. If you love fantasy you should read this series! Enjoy!
