More interesting than I expected! I've learn some interesting things about Lovecraft and the notorious people he knew. Not much on his personal life, but I already knew it and someone who know a bit less about him than I might even learn a bit in that part of his life as well. The art was good, his life well presented, could have been longer and gone deeper but still, for a biographical comic, it did quite a good job!
Wow! This book is a massive reference book for history nerds. This cover the entire war in historical record. We got dates, event and troops movements help with a lot of maps. Obviously the most recent and major conflict have more details because we have more information on WW1 then we have on Sumerians wars from over 4000 years ago. You can just browse trough it and enjoy, but there is also a bunch of glossary and index to help you searching in something particular if need be. Masterpieces level of references!
Got this book for free due to a mistake in the order I received today so I decide to have a look at it! Fun little book, small novel for children. It has a very cozy mystery to it and also some family stuff to deal with, in some sort of coming of age and positive message kind of thing. It was fun, well done, the black and white illustrations also add some quality to it and help kids transitions from picture book to small novel. Exactly what it was suppose to be. Even with all these positive elements, I still withdraw one star because of the very light and easy going vibe of it all, could have gone a bit deeper I the mystery, a bit deeper in the family stuff. Still very good, but I often find children book to hold on a bit were they could go further, children can handle it. That being said I would recommend it and would even be curious to see how the series would go on since it's the first book in a series.
4,5/5. Well obviously this will be my last book of 2020, number 842 or something I believe, good year, less book read in the last 3 years but I wanted to slow down so it's more than fine.
I thought that Lynch had written a trilogy and then decide to continue the story, since the fourth one is coming in 2021, but no, from the ending and the afterword, it's more than clear that this was his plan all along to keep writing in this universe.
And I'm glad he did, because this is the best one by far in my opinion, not perfect, I think that this will never achieve best series for me for some reasons, but it keeps getting better and I always enjoy those books. Here we find the pacing to be way better, balancing between two heist in a good way. Lot of the book is focus on building background relationship between two characters and that was good, but it also has two downside. First, the love story was a bit too all over the place for my personal taste, and the heist, even if good and well handled, hadn't high stakes and that is something really important for me in fantasy. I like the "we need to kill the giant crazy old Gods before he destroy the universe" king of thing and here well... the stakes are far from that.
I did really like the writing, the cocky humor and dialogue from Locke, the brotherhood friendship and the backstory allowing the comeback of good characters that passed away.
Not perfect, but really the best one, a lot of fun to read and the next one will be a release buy or even preorder if I can have a paperback right away, since I have the first three on paperback and my OCD will enjoy the next one way more in paperback to match the others.
Anyway, great way to finish the year and if your looking for something different, and not just epic fantasy done different, but truly a different kind of fantasy, than Scott Lynch provides that and he is an author totally worth the shot. Maybe you'll like it, maybe not, but he brings something different, not trying to copy or remake anything, just doing his own things and I highly respect that and that ending...!!

Starting the year strongly with a bunch of comic book! I like this one, at least the two third of it, the random short stories at the end weren't that good, but the first two parts were really interesting. A different perspective on the Batman universe, original ideas, good narrative to bring them on, great art. So even if the last part let me down, it was still totally worth the shot!
Totally overhyped! Art that doesn't fit the story and a story that even if true enough to the original for a comic adaptation, that is too complex for a comic adaptation in my opinion, and just doesn't bring anything useful. When your start multiplying adaptation for a story... well it always begin to feel weird to me and just marketing stuff that try to profit of the sudden popularity of something and here, with the movie from Villeneuve coming, is what it is in my opinion... Sorry! Just re or reread the original novel while waiting for the movie!
Better art, but if not, same comments I have about the comic book adaptation of the first book!
