1,5/5. Terriblement décevant. La prémisse semblait ès intéressante, mais le résultat n’est pas à la hauteur. Du fantastique pour adulte? Sérieusement? Le tout semble fait pour des enfants d’âge primaire. Et de ce simplement mettre ce livre dans la lignée des successeurs de Lovecraft est une insulte à l’auteur, nous ne sommes aucunement dans un univers Lovecraftien. Nous sommes bien plus près de Bilbo et Tolkien, en terme de genre, le style ne se compare aucunement. On se retrouve à lire de longues descriptions de lieux, des séquences d’évènements, mais on ne ressent pas l’émotion, les personnages ne sont ni développés, ni attachants et alors que l’univers et la prémisse auraient pu donner jour à une trilogie, on se retrouve à lire une novella, qui donne, comme trop souvent avec cette catégorie de livres, plus une ébauche de roman qu’autre chose. La fin est peu plus intéressante que l’ensemble du livre, mais encore une fois l’impression d’ébauche demeure frustrante. Très décevant!

I really like the artworks of this book! The story is also great, but most of all it is the morale in it, the way it tries to show you how you can beauty in everything and everywhere if you know how to look. Well done!

2,5/5. It's a rare thing for me the write bad review bout a Jeff Lemire comic book, but here I am. I would have love to enjoy it but I didn't, there is a lot happening but it's the glue between it all that didn't seem to work. It reminds me a lot of the recent Watchmen TV show in the overall way it was done, nothing that similar, but some similarities and just an overall feeling about it. And it was also a very popular show even if I didn't really enjoy it, so maybe it might be the same for you and this book... Wasn't for me, it happens!

Yeah I'm that kind of a nerd! Obviously not read cover to cover but I really wanted to review this book because it's so cool! Around 21 ooo words in English. Massive book, this is a dictionary before all, but surprisingly light... weirdly light in fact.... Anyway, I love words, I love book, I love linguistic so etymology was a sure hit for me as well. For those you might not know, etymology is the origin of the word, from which word the actual one diverge and evolve from through out history. I find it fascinating. So this book does that, instead of providing a definition like a casual dictionary it gives you a short history of each word. Great reference book, I find it at a third of the price and I just couldn't resist. I'm glad I bought it, I will browse it for years just to learn nerdy stuff.

The same high standard as her previous book. Same style of poetry and same subject as well. Some might find it repetitive, but I didn't. Rupi Kaur poetry speaks to me in a strange way, her subject couldn't be farther away from my reality, but still I feel connect to it and emotional about it. I will certainly continue to read her.

I was expecting it to be way better. With the great art and very high review I was going in it with high expectation and overall this is just a picture book about not being rude. it was okay, but not much more.

After hearing so much from this one I decide to try it even if I was very unsure... I was so surprise by how crazy good it was!! I listen to the audio book and this was the kind of audio book that make the book even better I think, I would be curious to have my hand on a physical copy and I intend to buy one, but the audio book was awesome! It had a full cast of reader/actor that really impersonated the characters and made it felt so real. You can hear them, imagine their music, you see them in your head. The bands vibes, the drugs, the clash of ego, the love stories, etc. everything felt true, so real and I related to it in some parts. Might not sound like the best premise ever, it left me unsure for a long time, but trust me, if you start reading it, you will love it. Certainly one my top 5 best/biggest surprise of the year. Lot of funs!!

Fitz est un des personnages fictifs auxquels je suis le plus attachés. Je suis ses aventures depuis des années et même si Hobb a un style assez lent, c’est toujours un plaisir de poursuivre ses aventures. On a encore une fois un récit lent, surtout basé sur le développement des personnages, des intrigues socio-politiques et surtout sur la vie « normale », le quotidien de Fitz. Cependant, les choses déboulent drôlement vite dans les 100-120 dernières pages. La fin, comme toujours avec Hobb, nous donne envie de nous précipiter directement dans le tome suivant, même si le « punch » final étaient en partie prévisible. Évite est probablement un des personnages le plus désagréables que j’avais lu depuis longtemps, mais je crois que c’était voulu ainsi! Je poursuivrai l’aventure en 2021.

Une bonne adaptation du roman de Senécal, mais une adaptation qui n’apporte pas grand-chose, qui perd même un peu de profondeur en raison du texte plus court et du format BD qui s’y prête un peu moins. On perd un peu de cette réflexion sociale que j’aime bien chez Senécal et on mise davantage sur le gore et le sexe, plus facile à présenter graphiquement en BD. La BD demeure divertissante, bien illustrée et fidèle à l’œuvre original. J’ai lu Aliss il y à près de 10 ans je crois, donc c’était suffisamment loin pour que sa vaille la peine de revisiter le tout, j’avoue cependant ne pas avoir été particulièrement enthousiasmé. Bien, mais rien d’exceptionnel.

This series lost itself a bit along the way, the action and the art hold on until the end but it was just that at the end. the story even if promising in the beginning just kept getting lower, less engaging and less intriguing. Overall not a bad series, I'm happy I've read it but I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to read everything there is with Batman on the title. Not bad, just not "necessary".
