A true classic that I was reading for the first time. I was vaguely remembering seeing the movie a quarter of century ago, but I was so young and it was so long ago that I barely remembered anything at all.

I really enjoy it, which is close to a miracle do to the timing I was reading it. Believe it or not, I realize last Friday that my identity was stolen and that there is a bit more than ten thousands dollars of «debts» in «my name», which is a very shitty situation. Back to the book!

I enjoy every second of it. There is so much imagination in this book, so much creativity, originality, and so much bookish love as well. Alice in Wonderland is often consider like one of the, if not THE, best imaginative classic for children, but for me The Neverending Story deserved it way more.

It's a book I would recommend to everyone and even more for children, by themselves or reading to them by an adult, because I think this is truly a novel that can bring children to reading and reading fantasy.

A masterpiece!

Still very good and entertaining but not much happen in this one in mostly every aspect, might be some sort of in between issue. Good in the overall series, but not much by its own!

4,5/5. Different style of story in this one. Maybe not my favorite but we do learn a lot about the world and that was awesome. The ending just left us on a very high cliff hanger and I'm really looking forward the next volume and unfortunately it might take a while!!

What a debut novel by Ed McDonald!!! It was truly epic! Honestly it had everything I love in fantasy novel.

It start fast and did not bother to over explain the world and the magic and all, we discover it as we go on with the main character adventure. The magic system, the world, the badass heroes, the epic quest, the tragedy, the over drinking, the dark humor, etc. Everything was well done and totally enjoyable.

I had already the second one and will read it by the end of November, and I just order the third and final one that I will probably read in December. I was expecting it to be good, but not as great as it was. One of my best book of the year for sure and could possibly achieve one of the best series as well along with Hyperion from Dan Simmons! This book have high ratings on Goodreads and totally deserve it, but it also deserve to me more talk about, because it didn't get the attention it deserve!

If you love fantasy do yourself a favor and read it you can thanks me later by buying me a drink. God this book made me thirsty!

2,5/5. Grand délire mystique. La première partie est assez intéressante, car le délire est tellement élevé que l'on frôle le fantastique. La deuxième partie est plus religieuse qu'autre chose. Reste à savoir si tout est inventé ou si l'auteur à réellement vécu cette confusion entre rêve et réalité. Dans l'ensemble cela est tout de même que moyennement intéressant. Loin d'être un incontournable!

Recently trying to learn how to do a variety of knots, this book was a great way to start. It provides good basic tips on knots and ropes and it presents a good bunch of knots with description, utility and step by steps illustrations that shows quite well how to manage the knots. Well done, will keep going into it to continue to train and learn!

Very different from the Le Guin translation I read first. At first I wasn't sure if buying this one was worth it or if it would be the same, but it was worth it, because it's completely different. I do think that the le Guin is easier to get into and I'm glad I started there, but this one provides another translation, another way of going into those teaching and it help think and even rethink your way of life. I like it and if you're into Buddhism and this kind of religious/philosophical way of thinking, the Tao Teh Ching is a book totally worth investing time on!

Livre de vulgarisation économique et de plan de finance personnel intéressant et bien expliqué. Je ne suis cependant pas le plus grand fan de la méthode McSween, méthode logique et réel sur le plan économique, mais un peu pâle sur le plan humain. J’avoue être plus en faveur d’un mode de vie sain et «minimaliste» plus pour des raisons sociales que financières et le prive toi maintenant pour en profiter plus tard n’est pas ma principale façon de voir les choses. Vie responsablement et profite de toute ta vie.

Il est vrai que ma vision de la vie financière ou autre, a évolué au fil des ans pour plusieurs raisons. Je n’ai pas et n’aurai pas d’enfants donc la partie patrimoine et lègue ne me touche aucunement. J’ai la chance d’avoir un métier garanti et relativement payant et une conjointe qui gagne encore plus. Je peux donc me «permettre» d’avoir une pensée plus légère sur le sujet. Mais j’ai également vu des gens mourir brutalement en bas âge, des proches affligés de maladie réduisant leur espérance de vie ou leur capacité a en profiter. Tout cela a radicalement diminué mon intérêt à espérer et investir dans un futur qui m’apparait malheureusement plus qu’incertain. Je crois que cette méthode a du bon, qu’il faut trouver un équilibre financier et être responsable, sans devenir complètement obnubilé par cela. Un bon livre qui porte a réfléchir, mais a appliquer selon ses attentes, ses objectifs et sa réalité!

Toujours très intéressant de voir ce personnage grandir et évoluer. La vision du monde de l’époque, ainsi que la condition féminine sont également deux points qui rendent la lecture de cette série si intéressante à mes yeux. Un classique canadien qui mérite amplement sa place!

Ohhh that was even better than I expected! We have the strong young killer, that remind me of the beginning of Vinland in some way, with the samurai settings, that remind me of Vagabond, with a touch of fun craziness! Really well done and sure is a lot of fun to read. I'm totally in!!

Almost forgot, the art is awesome and I also like how the author sometimes kind of skip a small part of the scene to just bring the conclusion of the obvious action that add gone by, really hard to explain in word, but some action transition are just amazingly done!
