Another of those coffee table book of photography. It presents marvelous places from around the world, with good quality pictures and some information on those places too. A very casual canvas for this kind of book, but well done and well edited!
Good one, more focus on the story this time, even a bit of the background of the main character, that could have been longer, I hope we get more eventually from her «early years». This series continue to hold me thigh and I like it!
Nice book about recognizing what a father do for his child but with a funny touch, the child clearly is exhausting is father but the child think like it,s more like she allows him to relax. There is one or two God allusion or religious one, but necessarily something to be bother with if you're not into religion, because it is barely there. Nothing that much original, but a book well done that achieve its purpose!

Nice book of what have the potential to become a nice series or collection. This book describe in a easy and understandable way the job of a baker. A bit specific, but for children who have an interest it can be fun to read. This would be nice to see others jobs done in the same way. Interesting!
Nice little story about a girl and her dog going for a hair cut. Fun and entertaining, but very might, it could also use to introduce the haircut with young children who might be scare to go for their first one.
If you thought The Whisperer was good... This book, The Shadows by Alex North is amazing, mind blowing and stunning. Honestly the guy had scored very high for his first novel and now he raises the bar even higher.
In front we get a master level thriller, that alternates between two timeline, the main protagonist's childhood, and his adult life, the now. And in the background, we get a solid work of literacy, very well written, fluid, and deep characters development that even add a bit of bookish love into them, with the love of reading, writing and bookshop, just present enough to be good and useful to build those characters background at the same time. Nothing is lost, no filler, nothing stretch or anything. Everything is there for the story and I just read straight through it in two days.
The story is a great thriller, which plays with supernatural elements, is there supernatural, it's just our imagination trying to explain the unexplained, you only will know at the end. But it's also so much more than that. It's a story of love, friendship, family, childhood, memories, ... All of it makes it, sure a good thriller, but a novel that deserves attention in and out of the fan based genre readers.
If I have one negative thing to say it would be that he uses a story frame well known and similar to his first book, so it plays it safe a little bit, but at the same time he improves it so...
A wonderful thriller, perfect for the summer that I highly recommend and know I will just wait for Alex North to deliver us another bestseller soon, I hope!
Audio read/listen update:
I know I read it quite recently, but I got my hand on an audiobook copy and I was curious to listen to it. The story is obviously as good and I didn't change my mind on the overall rating. Still I prefer the physical book and that is the one I would recommend to go into, because the ambiance is very important in this book and, personally, I find harder to really feel it listening to it compare to reading it.

I went into this one expecting something as dark and epic as The Last Gods series... it wasn't. I never really feel the sense of pic quest I was going in for and it wasn't really dark, or not enough for me at least, both in term of story and artwork. I didn't enjoy it!
Even if the story was okay, the illustrations were very simple, even a bit cheap in the looks, they could have been made with the old paint software for over two decades ago... If this isn't something that bother you than go ahead, but for me, I like children book to be a bit more attractive visually!
