This is without a single doubt the most amazing children book I’ve read about death. It was crazy good and very emotional it even get a tear to drop out of my eye, which I think it’s a first time a children book does it.

Loosing a love one as a kid is rough and sometimes a bit hard to understand and deal with. Having lost so many close one at a very young age (the worst being my godfather and godmother at the age of four) I totally get the struggle and it a subject that is important for me. How to talk about it?

Well this book does it perfectly. No stupid comforting thought, not trying to escape talking about it, not over dramatic either. Just talking about the hard fact that dying is a part of life, that we have no other choice to accept it and that we don’t really know what is on the other side, if there is even an other side. For sure, this one is about a grandpa dying so it’s, in my opinion, easier to talk about than a accident, or cancer in a young age or something «less natural» in the order of things we like to put in place.

Of course, it’s sad, but there is hope, there is light and it accomplish something truly great talking about this topic the way it does.

Here it the quotes that got my tear out, a metaphor that was new, I never hear it before, and I just find it to be beautiful and somewhat accurate. Not in a religious way, but more in the way that after we die, wherever we go, we stay «around» the people we love if they keep us in the heart or in their thoughts.

«Think of it this way. Today, you and I are like two fish swimming together in this lake. When I die, things will be different. I won’t be a fish anymore, but I’ll become something even better. I’ll be the water.»

Young or old, read this book!

It was okay, but I think I would have like this one better at a younger age. I also think that picking the audiobook, wasn’t the best choice for this book and it might be a bit responsible for me being meh! about it. A lot of small children horror story or monsters in it, a lot of the 80s vibes and the Canadian setting where all good aspects of it. Overall, I should have like it. But something didn’t click in me. It was okay, I enjoy the time, but not much more!

And again… I need to stop picking thriller on their premise or cover and start being more meticulous about it. Way too light for my taste. Some one night stand getting out of hand. This book is no thriller; this is romance taking a bad turn. Not badly written, the writing style is totally okay for this kind of book, but the characters, again not poorly develop, just a bit passive and trying to hard to be good. Not my style at all. I understand how some might like it but personally, I can’t recommend this book and not an author I would be curious to read more from. It happens…

4,5/5. Continuing on my Lovecraft journey (original works, adaptations and followers works). This one was a very interesting manga adaptation of the Lovecraft story. The ambiance is well represented, the story feel good, the art is good and I really enjoy reading it. I read a bunch of Lovecraft comic adaptation but this was my first manga.

This book was so weird… The art, the main character most of all, almost look scary for children and the story was okay, but didn’t create or bring anything really new. I find it really weird honestly, not much more i can say about it.

Another of those Lovecraft comic adaptation. I always have mostly the same comment about those. They're good enough adaptation, but they could have been a bit darker in the artworks (style, color choice, etc.). Still fun to read and might be an entry point for young reader (around 12 maybe...) to get into the Lovecraft universe. I enjoy them!

Holly hell!! What a surprise! I had no idea Jeff Lemire was coming with what is a sequel to the Joker The Killer Smile short series. Like its predecessor, we find ourselves in a weird psychological comic, with a darker illustrations style and some incredible intrigue. This one made my day! What a release! Read the Joker one first, it's only three issues and totally worth it and you will appreciate this one better I think. A must read if you like Batman, the Joker and are looking for something dark, psychological and original don't hesitate a second!

Dark, twisted, mysterious, great artwork, this is another must read series from Jeff Lemire!

The plot line of this inside series is slowly but certainly losing me. Jumping around trying to look surprising but looking more like improvising to me. Let's hope something happen or the ending coming soon so we can move to something else!

Palahniuk is a strange man and he prove it yet again here. This just don't make sense, not even in the «this was weird but awesome» just the «what the f**k did I just read». Is there even a story here? I don't think, just a lot of nonsense craziness that goes on and is published for to reason, the first being the hype and fan base Palahniuk has and the second being the Fight Club name who is also a big seller. Read the original novel, watch the movie, but stop there, those comic sequels don't bring anything significant. Two stars, because the art was good!
