I respect the message in this book about appreciation and cheering the good point instead of always punishing the bad ones. But some children don't have much good one the begin with and not all children will respond all miraculously to that, like the ending of this book might make some people think. Still is presented in a easy to understand way the hyperactivity from the perspective of the children. The fundamental of this book is good but the magical thinking at the end let me down a bit.
A magnificent minimalistic book of a true beauty. The story but the illustrations even more are just amazing. Beautiful work! Not much to say about it because it is a really short book, but it definitely worth the time!
An introduction to yoga within a story and with a Bee. It's was alright but not in an entertaining way, this book, in my very personal opinion, should be use only if you want to talk about yoga to your kids or introduce them to it, if not... then there is no point going with it, but if you do, this book does a good job at explaining what is yoga, how it work and why yoga can help you.
2,5/5. Hummm... Well it wasn't what I expected. Probably better then most YA I've read so far to be fair, we don't fall into too much clichés and the romance is of course there (those YA characters sure do fall in love easily!) but not too cheesy. Will I go on with the next one? No. Did I regret reading it? No. It was okay but too often those book have very good synopsis and look great but the execution often fail. The plot is not captivating at all, the characters just not unique or original enough and the universe is intriguing but not develop to it's full potential. I was expecting more fantasy, more action and hoping for more complex characters. Not really for me, but YA reader would probably, I think..., enjoy t!
When I saw this book I was really sure to have already read it in French (in its original version), but after verification and when I started reading it I realize I never did. I’m really happy to finally have the chance to do it. This is a very emotional story. I live a similar story myself, has the boy character, while my girlfriend at the time, now wife, has cancer at a young age, so reading this book bring back a lot of memories. It describes really well the situation and the thinking of the person who had cancer, especially the part where the girls is tired of always being said how strong and brave she is. This is one example, but truly, everything is well done without being over dramatic. Big surprise and a must read!
Cute and fun story about acceptance and tolerance. There is humor but also a good message and all of it is well illustrated. Good job!
This book, like the others from this publisher, consist of very simple sentences that present a small story. The book look like it is written to help develop vocabulary by presenting «new» word or less common one with and illustrations to help understand it. Very basic, but well done in what, I think, it try to achieved,
Cute story and illustrations but with as very repetitive sentences, so for a young age. Monster do that. Monster do that. Monster do that. You see my point... So basic that it get hard to review, but a good book for this genre!
Just a lot of very repetitive sentences, so for a very young age. So basic that it get hard to review, a good book for this genre, but at the same time so simple that you can help ask yourself...why?
4,5/5. Not sure about calling this book a character riven, because it's written on various period of time, so you mostly change character every 50 pages, while you past through a generation (more or less 25 years). The characters are sure well develop for this short amount of pages and time we pass with them them, but I wouldn't call it a character driven story/book. It's a book that present a very original and interesting plot, putting plant in the front plan. Almost has original as the trilogy of ants (La trilogie des fourmis) de Bernard Werber. Unfortunately it has problem with the rhythm. Some part are fluid and goes well, but from time to time we get in a very slow part were nothing happen and with seem to go nowhere, and there it start being fun again. So those up and down made it loose half a star for me. It was still a good scyfy read with a lot of interesting concept and philosophy about consciousness and what is intelligence. I had very high expectation for this one, hard to achieved kind of expectations, and most of it were indeed achieved so a very good job! I will probably read the next one as soon as it gets out!
