Pretty bummed bc I had been looking forward to reading this for a while, but it was not what I expected or wanted. 

I was worried once I saw where this was going (don't particularly enjoy reading about romance), but ended up enjoying it quite a bit. 

Some genuinely surprising turns, a delightful cast of characters, legitimately spooky moments, and minor pop-cultural references that never felt out of place. 

I was not expecting to cry over this book today. 

I bounced p hard off Gideon the Ninth, and was worried I wouldn't like this either, but it was entirely captivating and I read it in one sitting. 

I really liked some parts of this, and really did NOT like others. I'm not mad I read it, and don't usually mind ambiguous endings, but...idk, maybe I just didn't get it. 

Maybe the teensiest bit predictable (but I'm cutting it some slack as it's MG), but a genuinely delightful read nonetheless. Was recommending it to my youngest and their friends before I was even finished.
