essjay's Reviews (635)

I still enjoyed this, but it somehow felt less polished and together than The Value of X.

A sweet and angsty story of queer first love. I read this when it first came out, but had forgotten the details.

Really really obvious that she started self-publishing bc this book is in DIRE need of both a proofreader and a content editor.

I really enjoyed the setting and the premise, but thought it was ill-suited to the novella format. Would have been better either as a short story or a full-length novel.

This was not at all what I expected it to be, but I greatly enjoyed what it was.

The only two stories I gave above 3 stars were "Todd" and "Tabula Rasa." Not sure if I've changed so much as a reader or if he's changed as a writer, but this was my least favourite of his collections.

This book was so brutal and made my stomach hurt and my heart swell. Pity that the people who need to read it most never will.

I picked this up based solely on the cover and am so glad I didn't even read the blurb bc that blurb is bullshit. I can't remember the last time I read a work of fiction that so well articulated both the autistic and the queer experience. Will definitely be thinking of this for a long long LONG time.

funny reflective

A little bit predictable at times, and far too many typos for a tradpub novel, but I just really enjoyed being in Eve's messy, messy head.
