This was an interesting story and I was sucked into this from the first page.
Miranda wakes up on a bench in a mall and isn't really sure who she is or what is going on. This had shades of The Bourne books/movies in it in my opinion.
Miranda eventually comes across Peter who is like her...She finds out they have an ability to create fear in others and by the way, they are also pretty good fighters as they have been training since they were young. Surprisingly, Miranda goes with Peter to the compound they grew up in and along the way finds out she grew up with 2 other people like them (Noah and Olive) and for some reason Noah betrayed her by taking away her memories. There is a whole lot more going on and I won't rehash it in a review as I can't really do it justice.
The action is almost non-stop in this book as the characters are almost constantly running, fighting, or planning a way to stop the dry run.
I would have liked to understand more about the beginnings of the group and why things evolved the way they did. Also, although we get a glimpse into Rhys' life and beginning, I didn't feel like it was enough.
The characters are given enough depth to generate an interest in them and the flashbacks Miranda has while getting her memory back help to provide a backstory. It was great to see a little bit of the relationship between Noah and Miranda but also the interaction between Peter and Miranda. Just when you think the love triangle is going to rear it's head....there is a twist. That is all I will say.
I will definitely continue this series and look forward to the next installment.

Fluffy, fluffy fluff.
There is some angst in this one - Pia is a succubus who fell in love with a human...after not being able to survive and being rescued by Zur-Sin, she has finally gotten back into her life.
Overall this was an interesting story. How the incubus and succubus interact as well as their family lives - it was interesting to see the difference between how Pia was raised and a normal family. The fact that there is a sister-wife thing going on was odd but it was explained so it made sense.
I enjoyed the interaction of Val and Pia as well as Sin and Pia. Sin rescued her but gave off the impression that he didn't really care about her. The end of the book proved that wrong - he really did what was best for him but did care.
I enjoyed the story - I would have liked to understand John's motive to do what he did as well as find out what Sin ended up doing with Amel.

I will admit, I completely forgot I had this book but I'm so glad I picked it back up.
First of all - historical....I'm in. I loved the fact that Longshore took the story of Catherine Howard and dove into the detail behind how she thought things happened.
Cat drove me crazy - she was so selfish and everything was about what she wanted and how she could get it. Kitty drove me crazy too but in the completely opposite direction - she always gave in to whatever Cat wanted. I loved seeing the relationship develop with William and Kitty and it made me so sad to read the end of the book with no follow up to what happened with him after he left his position with the Duke.

Spoiler
In my mind Kitty heads over to Cheapside and finds him/his family house and they end up together. :)
Umm...this better be a series...just saying.
I really enjoyed this story but there really was a lot going on. The story is told from different perspectives of a number of the characters. The transition from one pov to another was done well and allowed me to see how each of these character's lives intersected or were on their way to doing so.
Mallory was raised by a witch and hasn't been told that she is a daimon. Witches and daimons don't get along and it turns out that Mallory's birth father is actually the leader/lord of the daimon's. Along with this story, there is also a tournament going on in The City that allows daimons to fight (sometimes to the death) for a place of power within The City.
I had a love/hate relationship with a number of the characters. The relationship between Kaleb and Zevi was probably my favorite. Kaleb is super protective of Zevi as all they really have is each other. Once Mallory enters the picture, he recognizes her as pack and his protectiveness and pack mentality begins to include her.
I'm not going to lie...and you can probably tell from my updates, I was a bit upset with Aya at the beginning of the book but she slowly won me over.
Overall this was a nice story. The world (The City) created by Marr and everything that was included in that - The Carnival, the castes and the different types of daimons and witches made it truly interesting and if you can't tell, I am sincerely hoping for another book to continue where this one left off.
