The Foxglove King by Hannah Whitten is the first in The Nightshade Crown series and you can bet I will be picking up the next one as soon as I can get my hands on it.

The story focuses in on Lore, an orphan living in a city where if someone finds out about death magic, she's dead. As a poison runner, she knows what's at stake and has learned early on that everyone looks out for themselves but when a run goes wrong, she knows she can't just run and leave her partner behind. Unfortunately for her, this decision puts her into the hands of the Presque Mort, a group of warrior-monks sanctioned to use Mortem (the magic borne from death) working for the Sainted King, and King August. Left with the decision to either use her magic to help the King or die, Lore makes the only decision she can.

This book has politics, romance, and plenty of action to keep the reader turning the pages. And of course, there's Bastian and Gabriel. Lore's backstory and the world building done by Whitten created a story I didn't want to put down and I of course needed to learn what was going to happen next for all the characters involved.

If you're looking for a new YA Fantasy, consider picking this one up. I really enjoyed it and look forward to the next one in the series!

Glory and the Master of Shadows is the 4th book in the Lady Charlotte's Society of Angels series but it's the first one that I've read. I have to admit, there were characters in this story that I'm sure I didn't have the backstory about (all of Glory's friends) but I don't think I missed too much.

I really enjoyed this one. The character development was great and the way Callaway built the relationship between Glory and Wei was well done. All of the secondary characters helped to drive the story forward as Wei looks to seek revenge and Glory gets caught up in the mix. I appreciate the level of steam in Callaway's books alongside the actual story too.

Consider picking this one up when you get a chance. I'll be going back to read the others soon.

I love Kerrigan Byrne's books...all of them so when I heard she had a new release I knew I had to have it. I'd not read anything by Cynthia St. Aubin before this but I've added her to my list as I thought this book was well done!

Nevermore Bookstore is the first in the Townsend Harbor series and I'm especially happy this is going to be a series as there were some great secondary characters in this one that I'm dying to see more of. In this book, Cady is the fmc and the owner of Nevermore Bookstore. Her backstory is interesting and I won't go into a lot of detail but how she ended up with the store drives a number of pieces in the book. With that said, every Thursday night, she stays late for a phone call from "Fox". What originally started out as a call to place an order for books has now transitioned into lengthy calls and they both find themselves drawn to each other even though they have never met and probably never will...for reasons. Until one night when their call is interrupted by a break in at the store and Fox decides he is going to save / protect her.

I loved everything about this book. The cast of characters and their stories, the setting, the relationships, and even the mystery of what was truly going on with Cady and her bookstore. If you get the chance, pick this one up. I'll be grabbing any future stories by these authors (separate or together) for sure!
